Reporting to: General Manager / Management

- Job PurposeTo design and improve agricultural machinery while planning production efficiently, minimizing material wastage, optimizing resource utilization and ensuring timely delivery of finished products.
- Key ResponsibilitiesA. Product Design & Development

- Design and develop agricultural implements, including rotavators, cultivators, rotary tillers and other farm equipment.
- Prepare 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Standardize components and improve product designs for ease of manufacturing and assembly.
- Coordinate prototype development, testing and design improvements.

B. Production Planning & Control

- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on sales orders, forecasts, inventory and delivery commitments.
- Create production schedules for fabrication, machining, welding, painting and assembly.
- Calculate material requirements and coordinate with purchase to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Monitor production progress against planned targets and resolve bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with stores, purchase, production, quality and dispatch teams.
- Track work-in-progress (WIP), machine utilization and production lead times.

C. Wastage Reduction & Cost Optimization

- Identify and reduce wastage of steel, sheets, pipes, plates, cutting tools,



welding consumables and other production materials.
- Optimize cutting layouts and nesting to maximize material utilization.
- Analyze scrap, rework, rejection and excess consumption; implement corrective actions.
- Establish standard material consumption and yield benchmarks for each product.
- Reduce unnecessary movement, waiting time, rework and production downtime.
- Implement 5S, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising product quality.

D. Inventory & BOM Management

- Maintain accurate BOMs, material specifications and standard consumption records.
- Coordinate material planning using MRP or ERP systems, spreadsheets or other production-planning tools.
- Monitor minimum stock levels, slow-moving inventory and excess stock.
- Reconcile planned material consumption with actual production consumption.
- Ensure correct identification and traceability of materials and components.

E. Manufacturing & Quality Support

- Support production teams in resolving drawing, fabrication, machining and assembly issues.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for production delays, material wastage and quality failures.




- Implement process improvements and maintain engineering change records.
- Ensure products meet approved drawings, specifications and quality standards.

3. Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Preferred experience: 2–6 years in manufacturing, production planning or mechanical design.
- Experience in agricultural machinery, tractor implements, fabrication or engineering manufacturing is preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD software, Excel and production-planning tools.
- Knowledge of BOMs, MRP, inventory control, Lean Manufacturing and material utilization.

4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Production plan adherence.
- Reduction in material wastage and scrap percentage.
- Reduction in rework and rejection rates.
- Raw material consumption versus standard BOM.
- On-time completion of production orders.
- Reduction in manufacturing cost per unit.
- Inventory accuracy and control of excess WIP.
- Improvement in machine and manpower utilization.

5. Ideal CandidateA hands-on mechanical engineer who combines technical design skills with solid production-planning and cost-control abilities. The candidate must be comfortable working directly with the shop floor and taking ownership of measurable improvements in productivity, material utilization and delivery performance.

- Salary will be based on qualifications, relevant manufacturing experience and demonstrated results in production planning and wastage reduction.
