About Cogwheel Studios
Cogwheel Studios® is an integrated experience design practice dedicated to creating meaningful impact, lasting value, and sustainable growth for modern organizations.
Founded in 2010, we work at the intersection of strategy, design, and human insight, shaping experiences across brand, communication, space, product, and digital. Our multidisciplinary approach brings together diverse perspectives to solve complex challenges and translate ideas into purposeful design outcomes.
We partner with forward thinking organizations, leaders, and institutions to create brands, products, spaces, and experiences that resonate and endure.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Creative Designer who combines a strong visual sensibility with curiosity, conceptual thinking, and a willingness to explore beyond conventional design boundaries.
At Cogwheel Studios, design is not limited to making things look good. It is about understanding the problem, finding the right idea, and translating it into a thoughtful visual and experiential solution.
You will work across a diverse range of projects, collaborating with strategists, designers, developers, and other specialists to shape ideas from concept to execution. From developing brand identities and communication systems to designing digital interfaces and spatial experiences, you will contribute to work that connects visual expression with purpose and context.
We value designers who are curious, take ownership of their work, care about the details, and are willing to question, experiment, learn, and improve.
What you will do
Concept and visual design
- Develop creative concepts and visual directions grounded in project objectives and audience needs.
- Design brand identities, graphic systems, communication materials, and visual assets.
- Translate ideas into compelling compositions using typography, imagery, colour, layout, and visual storytelling.
- Explore multiple design directions, develop ideas, and refine them through feedback and iteration.
Brand and digital experiences
- Contribute to brand strategy expression, identity systems, brand guidelines, and communication design.
- Design websites, digital content, and user interfaces with an understanding of usability, hierarchy, and responsive behaviour.
- Develop presentations, publications, marketing collateral, and other brand communication materials.
- Extend visual systems consistently across print, digital, and physical environments.
Spatial and experiential design
- Contribute to environmental graphics, signage and wayfinding, exhibitions, and spatial communication projects.
- Understand how graphics, information, and visual identity interact with architecture and physical environments.
- Collaborate with the team to translate concepts into practical design solutions and production-ready artwork.
Craft and collaboration
- Prepare accurate, production-ready files and design specifications for different media.
- Present and articulate design decisions to internal teams and, where required, clients.
- Manage multiple assignments, timelines, and feedback cycles with care and accountability.
- Explore emerging tools, techniques, and technologies that can improve design quality and expand creative possibilities.
What we are looking for
- A strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, visual craft, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- A sound understanding of typography, composition, colour, layout, and visual hierarchy.
- Experience or demonstrated ability in branding, graphic design,
and visual identity development.
- An understanding of web design, digital interfaces, responsive layouts, and user experience principles.
- The ability to translate a brief into a explicit design direction and explain the thinking behind your work.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A collaborative attitude, intellectual curiosity, and the confidence to work independently.
- A willingness to learn, accept constructive feedback, and continuously improve your craft.
A degree or diploma in communication design, graphic design, visual communication, or a related discipline is welcome. Equivalent practical experience and a compelling portfolio are equally valued.
What will make you stand out
- Experience working across brand identity, digital, print, and spatial design.
- An interest in the relationship between design, technology, culture, and human behaviour.
- Familiarity with Figma, prototyping tools, motion graphics, or digital production workflows.
- Experience with Webflow or other website-building platforms.
- The ability to think beyond templates and bring an original point of view to a design challenge.
Why Cogwheel Studios
You will work across disciplines, industries, and challenges rather than being confined to a single category of design. You will have the opportunity to learn from a multidisciplinary team, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop a broader understanding of how design shapes brands, products, spaces, and experiences.
We value thoughtful work, honest collaboration, curiosity, and the willingness to take an idea further.
