Role Description The Asst. Manager - Freight Forwarding is a full time, on-site role based in Mumbai, responsible for managing and coordinating end-to-end ocean freight operations for import and export shipments. The role includes handling customer inquiries, preparing quotations, and providing proactive updates to clients on shipment status and documentation requirements.

The person in this position will liaise with shipping lines, overseas agents, customs brokers, and internal teams to ensure timely booking, documentation, and cargo movement. Daily tasks involve monitoring freight rates, negotiating with service providers, managing files and records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards. The Asst.





Manager will also support process improvements, mentor junior staff, and contribute to achieving service quality and profitability targets.

Qualifications

- Strong customer-facing skills, including Customer Service and the ability to manage client expectations and relationships.
- Solid understanding of Ocean freight operations, including carrier coordination, schedules, and documentation.
- Hands-on experience with Freight forwarding processes, including booking, routing, and rate negotiation.
- Knowledge of Import procedures, documentation, and regulatory compliance for international shipments.
- Knowledge of Export procedures, documentation, and regulatory compliance for international shipments.
- Relevant experience in logistics, shipping, or freight forwarding, preferably in an assistant manager or supervisory capacity.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills in English; additional regional language skills are an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office and freight management or ERP systems.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field is preferred.
