Role Description This is a full time, on-site Pastry Chef role based in Mumbai at The Shalimar Hotel. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for planning, preparing, and presenting a variety of pastries, desserts, baked goods, and confectionery items for hotel restaurants, banquets, and special events. Day-to-day tasks include recipe development, production scheduling, quality control, and ensuring consistent taste, texture, and presentation in line with hotel standards. The role involves overseeing pastry section operations, managing inventory, maintaining food safety and hygiene, and collaborating with the culinary team on menus and seasonal offerings. The Pastry Chef will also train and guide junior team members,



support cost control measures, and contribute creative ideas to enhance the overall guest dining experience.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Bakery and Baking skills, with experience in pastries, breads, desserts, and specialty baked goods.
Candidates should possess solid Food Preparation and Cooking skills, including portioning, plating, and adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
Candidates should possess well-developed Culinary Skills, including recipe development, menu planning, flavor pairing, and presentation techniques.
Formal culinary or pastry education, certification, or equivalent professional training is beneficial.
Previous experience as a Pastry Chef or in a pastry section within a hotel, restaurant, or bakery is preferred.
Strong attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-paced kitchen environment.
Ability to work adaptable schedules, including weekends and holidays, and collaborate effectively with a diverse culinary and service team.
