Job Summary

The ICU Medical Officer is responsible for providing round-the-clock medical care to critically ill patients, monitoring their clinical status, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring adherence to ICU protocols and patient safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide continuous medical care to critically ill patients in ICU.
- Perform initial assessment, daily rounds, and documentation of patient progress.
- Monitor vital parameters, ventilator settings, ABG reports, and laboratory results.
- Initiate and modify treatment plans as per consultant instructions.
- Manage emergencies such as cardiac arrest, shock, sepsis, respiratory failure, etc.
- Perform and assist in ICU procedures including intubation, central line insertion, arterial line, ABG sampling, and CPR.
- Ensure proper handover during shift changes.
- Communicate patient condition and treatment updates to consultants and patient relatives (as permitted).




- Supervise ICU nursing staff and ensure compliance with clinical protocols.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in medical records.
- Follow infection control, NABH, and hospital policies.
- Participate in clinical audits, mortality meetings, and quality improvement activities.
- Ensure proper utilization of ICU equipment and report malfunctions.
