Mechanical Design Engineer (CAD / SolidWorks) Company DescriptionRamp Impex Pvt. Ltd. is an ISO 9001:2015 certified company established in 1997, specializing in Testing and Quality Control Instruments. The company serves multiple sectors, including textiles, plastics, leather and footwear, toys, and automobiles. With decades of industry experience, Ramp Impex focuses on engineering and supplying reliable, high-accuracy instruments that support product quality, compliance, and automated testing standards. The team values technical excellence, rigorous mechatronic integration, long-term client relationships, and practical engineering innovation. Role DescriptionThis full-time, on-site Mechanical Design Engineer role is based at Ramp Impex Pvt. Ltd. in Delhi, India. The engineer will conceptualize, design, and detail robust mechanical assemblies, enclosures, and testing jigs using advanced CAD/CAM tools. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with electronics, firmware, and fabrication teams to translate testing specifications into production-ready 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings. You will own the mechanical architecture of laboratory and industrial testing equipment—ranging from structural sheet-metal housings to precision load-frame assemblies and optical/mechatronic module mounts. Responsibilities include running tolerance stack-up analyses, optimizing designs for CNC machining, 3D printing, and sheet-metal fabrication, and managing engineering change orders (ECOs) through prototype assembly and factory deployment.
Key Responsibilities
• 3D Modeling & Assembly: Design complex mechanical components, multi-part assemblies, and mechanism layouts using SolidWorks.
• Drafting & GD&T;: Generate comprehensive 2D fabrication and assembly drawings complete with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;) standards.
• Sheet Metal & Enclosure Design: Engineer functional enclosures, ruggedized benchtop cabinets, and internal chassis mountings (incorporating flush fasteners, micro-textures, and structural reinforcement).
• Prototyping & Testing Support: Partner directly with the workshop and manufacturing floors during prototype fabrication, fixture alignment, and stress testing.
• CAM & Manufacturing Integration: Prepare toolpaths or interface directly with CNC machine programming and rapid prototyping workflows.
• Documentation: Maintain version control, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and technical documentation for all instrument lines. Qualifications & Requirements
• Core Technical Software: Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (Part Modeling, Assembly, Sheet Metal,Weldments, and Simulation/FEA modules) alongside general CAD/CAM software competency.
• Engineering Principles: Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, kinematics, material selection (e.g.,anodized aluminum, structural steel, engineering plastics), and manufacturing processes (CNC machining, injection molding, sheet-metal fabrication).
• Technical Communication: Ability to interpret electrical/mechatronic integration constraints (such as sensor placements, stepper/servo motor mounts, and wiring routing) and translate them into clean mechanical layouts.
•
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
•
Experience:
Minimum of 0–4 years of hands-on mechanical design experience within an industrial machinery, laboratory equipment, or OEM manufacturing environment.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to dimensional accuracy, tolerance stacks, design-for-manufacturing (DFM), and design-for-assembly (DFA) best practices.
