Job Description:

- Operate and inspect 2000 kVA DG sets, checking pre-start parameters (lube oil levels, coolant levels, fuel pressure, jacket water pre-heaters, starting battery voltages, and trickle charger operation).

- Manage power changeover operations, including Auto Mains Failure (AMF) logic, manual/auto bypass sequences, bus coupler operations, and Air Circuit Breakers (ACB) during grid failure or planned load shedding.

- Oversee multi-DG auto-synchronization, active/reactive load sharing (kW/kVAr sharing), auto-load sequencing, and motorized breaker closing/tripping operations.

- Monitor engine control units (ECU/ECM panels), Deep Sea/ComAp/Woodward controllers, digital governor settings, and excitation/AVR circuits for alarm annunciations or parameter deviations.

- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (A-Checks daily/per shift; assist with B-Check and C-Check milestones including lube oil change, bypass filtration, fuel/oil filter replacements, and tappet adjustments).

- Supervise bulk and day-tank fuel systems, including fuel unloading protocols, bulk fuel filtration/centrifuging, transfer pump testing, level transmitter calibrations, and consumption/log sheet maintenance.

- Monitor acoustic enclosure ventilation, radiator airflow, exhaust backpressure, turbocharger health, and vibration dampeners to ensure optimal heat dissipation and emission control.

- Adhere to electrical safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit to Work (PTW) systems,



fire detection/suppression protocols in DG rooms, and emergency engine shut-off procedures.

- Maintain detailed shift logs, tracking running hours, kilowatt-hour (kWh) generation, specific fuel consumption (SFC), battery gravity/voltages, and breakdown incident reports.

- Required Skills & Qualifications

- ITI (Diesel Mechanic / Electrician / Fitter) or Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.

- Minimum 4 6 years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining high-capacity industrial DG sets (2000 kVA or multi-megawatt parallel setups).

- In-depth mechanical and electrical knowledge of common-rail fuel injection, turbochargers, intercoolers, alternators, and AVR circuitry.

- Familiarity with synchronizing relays, AMF panels, and motorized ACBs (ABB, Schneider, Siemens, L&T;, or similar).

- Valid Electrical License / Wireman Permit issued by the Maharashtra PWD Licensing Board is highly preferred.

- Troubleshooting competence in diagnosing engine fault codes, reverse power trips, under/over-frequency conditions, and high coolant temperature interlocks.

- Willingness to work in rotational 8-hour / 12-hour shifts, including night shifts and on-call emergency breakdowns.

- Key: Candidates lacking direct experience on industrial DG sets of at least 1500 2000 kVA, or those without practical knowledge of AMF/synchronizing panels and basic electrical switchgear, will not be considered for this requirement.
