Job Description – Engineer – Motor Electromagnetic Simulation (ANSYS
Maxwell / JMAG)
Experience: 2–4 Years
Location: Bangalore
Domain: Electrical Machine Design / Electromagnetic FEA / CAE
Immediate joiners
Bangalore location only
Role Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Motor Design Engineer with valuable experience in the ANSYS
Maxwell and/or JMAG toolchain for PMSM/BLDC motor simulation. The candidate will support
the motor design lead and the cross-functional teams (controls, power electronics, mechanical,
and testing) by building, running, and reporting electromagnetic simulations across the 50 W–2
kW motor portfolio for robotic actuators, SDA, mixer grinders, washing machines, and AC
compressors.
Key Responsibilities & Skills
Hands-on experience in ANSYS Maxwell (2D/3D, RMxprt) and/or JMAG (JMAG-Designer,
JMAG-Express) for PMSM/BLDC motor simulation.
Ability to build parametric motor models from analytical/template level to 2D/3D transient
FEA, including geometry, material assignment, winding definition, meshing, boundary
conditions, and motion setup.
Good knowledge of simulation outputs: back-EMF, cogging torque, torque ripple, flux
density and saturation, Ld/Lq and flux-linkage maps, iron/copper/magnet losses, and
efficiency maps.
Experience in demagnetization analysis under high-temperature and short-circuit/fault
current conditions.
Experience with parametric sweeps and optimization (Optimetrics/optiSLang/JMAG
optimization) on slot/pole combination, magnet dimensions, skew, and winding turns.
Ability to generate reduced-order motor models (flux-linkage or Ld/Lq lookup tables,
equivalent circuit parameters) for the controls team's MATLAB/Simulink or PLECS models.
Ability to export loss data for thermal analysis and electromagnetic force data for
NVH/structural analysis to the mechanical team.
Correlation of simulation with test data (back-EMF, Kt, efficiency, temperature rise) and
identification of causes of mismatch such as material data, manufacturing tolerances, end
effects, and lamination punching degradation.
Maintenance of material libraries (B-H curves, frequency-dependent loss data), simulation
templates, and model-build guidelines.
Scripting skills (Python/IronPython/VBScript/JMAG script or MATLAB) for automating model
building and post-processing.
Pay: ₹1,000,000.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
