Role Description The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will lead the design, development, and validation of electronic hardware for smart building and infrastructure solutions. This full-time, in office role in Chennai involves creating hardware architecture, designing complex circuits, selecting components, and overseeing schematic capture and PCB layout in collaboration with cross-functional teams. The engineer will conduct simulations, prototyping, and testing to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with relevant standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include debugging hardware issues, optimizing designs for manufacturability, and supporting production ramp-up with local manufacturing partners.



The role also involves reviewing designs from junior engineers, documenting specifications, and contributing to continuous improvement of Emkionyx’s hardware platforms. Qualifications
• Strong foundation in hardware development and hardware design, including end-to-end product lifecycle ownership.
• Proficiency in electronics hardware design and circuit design for digital, analog, and mixed-signal systems.
• Experience in defining and implementing hardware architecture for embedded and intelligent systems.
• Hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, KiCad or similar).
• Knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, communication interfaces (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, Ethernet), and power electronics basics.
• Experience with hardware validation, testing methodologies, and use of lab equipment (multimeter, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, etc.).
• Understanding of ESS/EMI/EMC considerations, safety standards, and design for reliability and manufacturability.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 4+ years of relevant industry experience in hardware design for building technologies, IoT, or industrial systems is preferred.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers, collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, and communicate clearly in written and spoken English.
