ABOUT THE ROLE

OptiClaim provides medical coding, billing and revenue cycle services to US healthcare providers. We are hiring a Senior Inpatient Biller to own inpatient facility billing, from account review to claim submission, for a US hospital client.

This is a hands-on production role. You decide what should be billed, enter missing charges, produce accurate UB-04/837I claims, and transparent edits and holds yourself. The client's EMR and billing system is still evolving, so you will also test new billing functions and tell the developers what needs to change.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Review inpatient accounts before billing and produce complete, accurate claims

• Verify room and board, accommodation levels, dates of service, units, ancillary charges, procedures, medications and supplies

• Check revenue codes, bill type, discharge status, and occurrence, value and condition codes

• Find missing charges, duplicates, wrong revenue codes and wrong units before the claim is released

• Resolve edits, rejections, billing holds and missing information on your assigned accounts

• Bill and correct accounts manually where workflows are not yet automated

• Test new billing functions,



document system gaps and give developers clear requirements

• Track your productivity and recurring system defects, and escalate trends

MUST HAVE

• 5+ years of hospital billing, including 3+ years of inpatient facility billing on UB-04/837I

• Working knowledge of revenue codes, bill types, and room and board charging

• Enough coding knowledge to see when documentation, coding and charges do not match

• A record of producing claims independently, including manual charge entry and correction

• Clear written communication

• Willingness to work the US shift from a secure home setup

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience in an EMR, patient accounting or billing system implementation, conversion or testing

• Experience working with software developers or implementation teams

• Inpatient billing across several service lines and payer types

• Experience with claim scrubbers, clearinghouses or chargemaster workflows

• CPC or CCS certification
