We are looking for a skilled and motivated Continental Commis - I to join our kitchen team and contribute to consistent food quality and smooth kitchen operations.

Job Description

The Continental Commis - I will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of Continental dishes, maintaining the quality and presentation of food, and ensuring cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen. The ideal candidate should have practical knowledge of Continental cuisine, basic cooking techniques, and the ability to work efficiently in a professional restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook Continental dishes according to standard recipes and restaurant quality standards.
- Assist in preparing pasta, pizzas, sandwiches, salads, soups, sauces, appetizers, and main-course dishes.
- Handle food preparation, cutting, chopping, portioning, marination, and mise en place.
- Maintain consistency in taste, texture, portion size, and food presentation.
- Follow recipes, plating guidelines, and kitchen standard operating procedures.
- Maintain proper food storage, labeling, stock rotation, and ingredient freshness.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene of the workstation, kitchen equipment, and utensils.
- Follow food safety and sanitation practices during food preparation and service.
- Coordinate with the Sous Chef, Head Chef,



and other kitchen team members during service.
- Minimize food wastage and use ingredients efficiently.
- Assist with inventory checks and report shortages of ingredients and kitchen supplies.
- Ensure timely preparation and dispatch of food orders during peak service hours.

Required Skills

- Practical knowledge of Continental cooking techniques.
- Knowledge of pasta, sauces, soups, salads, appetisers, and other Continental preparations.
- Understanding of mise en place, portion control, and food plating.
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food safety, and storage procedures.
- Ability to follow recipes and maintain food quality standards.
- Good teamwork, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen.

Eligibility Criteria

- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in Continental cuisine or a professional restaurant kitchen.
- Education: Hotel Management or Culinary Arts qualification preferred; relevant practical experience is also valued.
- Specialisation: Continental cuisine, preferably in a premium restaurant or hotel.
- Work Environment: Must be comfortable working in a vegetarian fine-dining restaurant.
- Availability: Willingness to work rotational shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Location: Candidates from Siliguri and nearby areas are preferred.
