Role Description The Welding Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based at Velmurugan’s facility in Tamil Nadu, India. This role involves developing and qualifying welding procedures for heavy structures and windmill towers, selecting appropriate welding processes, and supporting production teams in achieving high-quality welds.

The Welding

Engineer will oversee day-to-day welding operations, coordinate welding inspections, monitor weld quality, and ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities include reviewing technical drawings,



conducting root cause analysis of welding defects, recommending corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement in fabrication workflows.

The Welding

Engineer will collaborate closely with design, quality assurance, and production teams to optimize weldability, enhance productivity, and maintain consistent standards across projects.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess robust skills in Laser Welding and Arc Welding for heavy fabrication and tower manufacturing.
- Candidates should possess skills in Welding Inspection and Quality Control to ensure compliance with standards and project specifications.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Metallurgy to select appropriate materials, understand weld behavior, and prevent defects.
- Relevant academic background such as a bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in heavy engineering, structural fabrication, or wind tower manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with international and Indian welding codes/standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO) and safety regulations.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, WPS/PQR documents, and perform root cause analysis on welding issues.
- Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills, with the ability to guide and support welding technicians and fabrication teams.
