Job Purpose/ Summary To manage and supervise the pickling department in a stainless steel pipe manufacturing plant, ensuring effective pickling and surface treatment operations, consistent product quality, secure chemical handling, optimum chemical consumption, and achievement of production targets in accordance with customer specifications and company standards.

Responsible for managing day-to-day pickling and passivation operations for stainless steel pipes and tubes, ensuring product quality, production targets, optimum chemical consumption, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. The role includes monitoring process parameters, managing chemicals and manpower, troubleshooting pickling defects, coordinating with production and quality teams, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.

Responsibility





Manage daytoday pickling operations for stainless steel pipes and tubes ensuring effective removal of weld scale heat tint oxide layers and other surface contaminantsbrMonitor and control pickling parameters including acid concentration bath temperature treatment time and chemical replenishment to ensure proper execution of pickling rinsing neutralization and passivation processesbrEstablish and implement standard operating procedures SOPs and work instructions for pickling activities to optimize process cycle time production throughput and material handling practicesbrEnsure proper handling and identification of different stainless steel grades including 304 316 321 and other applicable gradesbrMonitor pickling chemical consumption and maintain optimum bath conditions through regular chemical analysis and monitoring of bath concentration and process parametersbrCoordinate chemical procurement storage inventory control and replenishment with the concerned departments to minimize chemical wastage and improve chemical utilizationbrEnsure proper handling dilution transfer and storage of acids in accordance with approved procedures and monitor pickling bath life to coordinate safe bath replacement and disposalbrEnsure that pickled pipes meet specified surface finish cleanliness and customer quality requirements by monitoring defects such as pitting staining uneven pickling overpickling and incomplete removal of heat tintbrCoordinate with the Quality Assurance QA and Quality Control QC teams to resolve product quality issues investigate recurring defects and implement root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions CAPAbrMaintain process inspection records chemical analysis reports and traceability documentation and support internal audits customer audits and product inspections as requiredbrPlan and execute daily and monthly pickling production schedules in coordination with the Production Head to ensure timely completion of production orders while maintaining quality standardsbrMonitor productivity process cycle time downtime rejection rates and rework and coordinate with pipe manufacturing welding finishing maintenance and dispatch departmentsbrPrepare daily production reports and departmental performance summaries identify bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency
