Role Overview

Responsible for functional safety engineering support for ePowertrain systems under senior technical guidance. The role supports HARA, safety goal definition, safety requirement development, safety analysis, safety verification planning, traceability, issue tracking, and release evidence for electrified powertrain and high-voltage system functions.

Primary Focus Areas

- Functional safety support for ePowertrain controls, battery, BMS, HVJB, inverter, EDU, charging, thermal, diagnostics, and vehicle integration.
- Safety lifecycle support covering HARA, FSC, TSC, safety requirements, ASIL decomposition, safety mechanisms, and verification evidence.
- Alignment of safety requirements with diagnostics, controls, software, hardware, calibration, cybersecurity, validation, supplier, and OEM deliverables.
- Support for traceability, safety analysis, safety case evidence, confirmation review inputs, and programme gateway readiness.

Key Responsibilities

- Support HARA activities, safety goal definition, ASIL classification, secure state definition, and safety requirement decomposition.
- Prepare and maintain FuSa requirements, safety mechanism descriptions, traceability matrices, verification plans, and safety issue trackers.
- Support FMEA, FTA, DFA, dependent failure analysis, freedom from interference checks, and safety impact assessments.
- Coordinate with systems, controls, software, hardware, diagnostics, calibration, cybersecurity, validation, supplier, and OEM teams for safety issue closure.
- Review test cases, validation results, diagnostic coverage, fault injection evidence, and requirement coverage for safety-related functions.
- Maintain safety action logs, change impact records, review comments, supplier response trackers, and release support artefacts.




- Support safety case evidence collection and provide inputs for safety reviews, assessment readiness, and gateway release decisions.
- Escalate safety requirement gaps, interface conflicts, validation risks, and supplier dependencies to senior FUSA engineers and technical leads.

Required Skills & Experience

- Good understanding of ISO 26262, safety lifecycle, HARA, FSC, TSC, ASIL, safety requirements, safety mechanisms, and verification evidence.
- Experience supporting functional safety activities for EV, HEV, powertrain controls, battery, HV, software, or embedded systems.
- Working knowledge of FMEA, FTA, DFA, requirements tools, issue tracking tools, automotive networks, diagnostics, and validation environments.
- Ability to work with cross-functional engineering teams and maintain structured safety documentation under programme delivery timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automotive, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience within OEM, Tier-1, or engineering services environments for EV, HEV, ePowertrain, diagnostics, calibration, or functional safety programmes.
- Exposure to embedded software, diagnostics, safety lifecycle, cybersecurity, powertrain controls, validation, supplier delivery, and vehicle integration.
- ISO 26262 training, ASPICE exposure, calibration/diagnostics tool experience, or equivalent systems engineering training is desirable.
