Job Title:

Freelance Field Researcher – Industrial Building Daylighting Simulation & Energy Efficiency Optimization

Job Purpose:

· Develop a novel research direction based on the existing industrial building daylighting and energy efficiency study.

· Conduct building simulation and comparative performance analysis to optimize natural lighting, ventilation, thermal comfort, and energy consumption.

· Support the development of a revised research problem statement, objectives, research gap, methodology, and a complete research manuscript.

Required Qualification:

· Master's degree (preferred) in Architecture, Building Science, Civil Engineering, Energy Engineering, Sustainable Building Design, or a related discipline.

· Candidates with relevant simulation experience and research publication expertise may also be considered.

Tools to be Familiar:

· VELUX Daylight Visualizer and Energy and Indoor Climate (EIC) Visualizer, or equivalent building simulation tools.

· DIALux, Radiance, DesignBuilder, EnergyPlus, or similar tools are desirable.

· Excel or Python for data analysis, visualization, and comparative evaluation.

Required Experience

· 1–3 years of experience in building performance simulation, daylighting analysis, or energy efficiency research.

· Experience in simulation-based research, performance optimization, and scientific manuscript preparation is preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills

·

· Understanding of daylight factor, illuminance, luminance, glazing properties, window and skylight configurations, and building orientation.

· Knowledge of artificial lighting controls, natural ventilation, HVAC energy consumption, and indoor thermal comfort.

· Ability to conduct simulation-based comparative analysis, validate results against reference or measured data,



and quantify energy-saving potential.

· Ability to identify research gaps, formulate research objectives, and establish a technically sound and novel research methodology.

· Strong analytical, technical writing, figure preparation, and research documentation skills.

Job Description

· Research Gap and Problem Formulation: Critically review the supplied base paper and relevant literature to develop a novel research, revised problem statement, research gap, objectives, and a distinct research direction.

· Building Simulation: Develop or modify an industrial building model and simulate alternative daylighting configurations, including windows, skylights, glazing, and ventilation strategies.

· Performance Evaluation: Analyze illuminance, luminance, daylight availability, thermal comfort, ventilation performance, and lighting/HVAC energy consumption.

· Optimization and Comparative Analysis: Compare baseline and proposed design configurations, assess lighting control strategies, and quantify energy savings and performance improvements.

· Results and Validation: Prepare comparative tables, graphs, simulation outputs, and performance metrics, ensuring the findings are technically consistent and reproducible.

· Research Paper Preparation: Prepare a complete, original research manuscript covering the revised problem statement, objectives, literature review, research gap, methodology, simulation results, discussion, and conclusions.

· Publication Readiness: Ensure appropriate technical presentation, scholarly references, clear research contributions, and compliance with the selected journal's manuscript requirements along with multiple revision support.
