Telesys STP Engineer – Signal Transfer Point

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Telesys STP Engineer with solid expertise in SS7 signaling, STP deployment, configuration, integration, routing, and troubleshooting within telecom core network environments.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience working with Telesys STP platforms, SS7 protocols, signaling routing, GTT, and integration with telecom core network elements.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, install, configure, and commission Telesys STP nodes.
- Configure Point Codes, Linksets, Routes, and Global Title Translation (GTT).
- Configure and manage SS7 signaling links – A-Link, B-Link, and C-Link.
- Prepare MOPs and implementation documents for software upgrades and network changes.
- Integrate STP with MSC, HLR, SMSC, IN, and Signaling Gateways.
- Support legacy SS7 and interworking scenarios based on customer requirements.
- Troubleshoot signaling issues using traces, logs, Wireshark, and tcpdump.
- Perform protocol-level debugging, including SCCP and TCAP decoding.
- Optimize signaling routing tables and load distribution.
- Perform STP health checks, capacity planning, and performance analysis.
- Ensure high availability and optimal utilization of STP resources.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong knowledge of SS7 protocol stack:
- MTP Level 1 / 2 / 3




- SCCP – Connectionless & Connection-Oriented
- TCAP – Basic Operations
- Good understanding of E.164, E.212, and E.214 numbering plans.
- Experience implementing routing based on IMSI, MSISDN, and GT patterns.
- Strong knowledge of MAP signaling.
- Understanding of MAP–Diameter interworking.
- Familiarity with Diameter signaling in legacy-to-LTE/5G evolution.
- Good understanding of 2G/3G/4G/5G signaling architecture.
- Experience with Wireshark / tcpdump for signaling analysis.
- Exposure to KVM, VMware, Kubernetes/CNF, and virtualized/cloud platforms.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- 8+ years of relevant experience in Telecom Signaling / STP / SS7.
- Hands-on experience with Telesys STP is highly preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Experience working in telecom core network environments.
- Ability to handle implementation, integration, upgrades, and production troubleshooting.
