Role Description

The HVAC Engineer role at Prasa is a full-time hybrid position based in Hyderabad, with flexibility for partial work from home. The HVAC Engineer will design and review HVAC systems for data centers and mission-critical facilities, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and compliance with relevant standards. Daily responsibilities include preparing and updating HVAC design drawings, performing load calculations, selecting equipment, and coordinating with project, electrical, and civil teams to integrate HVAC solutions with overall infrastructure. The role involves supervising installation and commissioning activities, troubleshooting system issues, and overseeing maintenance and repair to minimize downtime and optimize performance. The HVAC Engineer will also support energy efficiency initiatives, documentation, and continuous improvement of HVAC processes and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and pre-execution

- Study tender and GFC drawings, BOQ, specifications and scope of work; flag gaps and clashes early.
- Prepare and update the project schedule, manpower plan and material requirement plan.
- Review shop drawings, coordinate with BIM/design teams and obtain consultant approvals.
- Raise material submittals and follow up on procurement, delivery and storage of equipment such as chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF/VRV units, pumps, ducts, piping and insulation.

Site execution

- Supervise installation of ducting, chilled water and refrigerant piping, equipment, insulation, dampers, diffusers and controls.
- Allocate work to subcontractors,



supervisors and foremen; monitor daily progress against plan.
- Ensure workmanship meets approved drawings, specifications and relevant standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, IS/NBC).
- Resolve site issues and execute design changes and variation orders with proper documentation.

Coordination

- Coordinate with civil, electrical, plumbing, fire-fighting and BMS teams to avoid clashes and clear services-coordination issues.
- Interface with clients, consultants and PMC for inspections, approvals and clarifications.
- Manage subcontractors and vendors, including work orders, productivity and site discipline.

Testing, commissioning and handover

- Plan and witness pressure testing, leak testing, flushing, duct leakage testing, and TAB (testing, adjusting and balancing).
- Support equipment start-up, commissioning and performance verification with OEM engineers.
- Compile as-built drawings, O&M; manuals, test reports, warranties and handover documents; close snag lists.

Experience

- 3–7 years in HVAC project execution on commercial, industrial, data centre, hospital or high-rise projects.
- Hands-on experience with chilled water systems, VRF/VRV, ducting, cleanrooms or ventilation systems.

Technical skills

- Solid reading of HVAC, MEP coordination and shop drawings.
- Working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, NBC and relevant IS codes.
- Familiarity with testing, balancing and commissioning procedures.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel and MS Project/Primavera; Revit or Navisworks exposure is an advantage.
