? JRF-cum-PhD Opportunities | 5G/6G, GNSS, LEO-PNT & Joint Navigation-Communication We are inviting applications for JRF-cum-PhD positions under ISRO
- and DST-funded research projects at BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus. We are looking for highly motivated candidates interested in developing next-generation communication and navigation systems, with research opportunities in: ? Embedded Systems for 5G/6G ? GNSS Anti-Spoofing & Anti-Jamming Receivers ? LEO-based Positioning, Navigation & Timing (LEO-PNT) ? LEO Joint Navigation and Communication (Nav-Com) ? Integrated Navigation and Communication using LEO Satellites ? Resilient PNT and Next-Generation Navigation Systems ? Software-Defined Radio (SDR) and FPGA/RFSoC-based Receiver Design ? GNSS Signal Processing, Acquisition and Tracking ? Joint Communication, Navigation and Sensing / ISAC ? Who can apply? We are looking for candidates with:
• B.
E./B.
Tech. in Electronics/ECE or closely related fields with GATE qualification
• M.
E./M.
Tech. in Electronics/ECE or related areas
• Strong fundamentals in mathematics, signal processing and communication systems
• Good programming skills in C/C++, Python and/or MATLAB
• Strong interest/background in embedded systems, SDR, FPGA and digital signal processing
• A genuine interest in research and pursuing a PhD ? Strong fundamentals are essentialCandidates should be comfortable with, or be willing to seriously work on:
• Fourier Transform and its properties
• Sampling, ADC/DAC and digital signal processing
• Modulation and demodulation
• Correlation and convolution
• Signal detection and estimation
• Synchronization
• Carrier and code tracking
• GNSS acquisition and tracking
• Communication and navigation receiver architectures
• 5G/6G fundamentals
• Embedded and real-time signal processing
• Satellite communication and navigation concepts For candidates interested in LEO-PNT and joint navigation-communication, an understanding of Doppler, satellite dynamics, signal propagation, synchronization, positioning and communication waveforms will be particularly useful. ?️ What kind of research will you work on?The research involves going beyond simulations and working towards real receiver implementations and experimental validation. Depending on the project, the work may involve: Mathematical modelling → Algorithm development → Simulation → SDR → FPGA/RFSoC/Embedded implementation → Hardware experimentation → Receiver validation Potential research problems include: ?️ LEO-PNT and resilient positioning ? Joint LEO navigation and communication systems ? 5G/6G and satellite-terrestrial integrated systems ?️ GNSS anti-spoofing and anti-jamming ? Advanced GNSS/LEO receiver architectures ? SDR, FPGA and RFSoC-based receivers ? Intelligent signal processing and receiver algorithms ? Recommended preparationCandidates seriously interested in applying are encouraged to study GNSS Receiver Design lecture material from Stanford University and develop a clear understanding of how a complete navigation receiver works. In particular,
candidates should understand the receiver chain: RF Signal → ADC → Digital Signal Processing → Acquisition → Tracking → Navigation Data Demodulation → PVT Similarly, candidates interested in communication research should have a transparent understanding of: Information/Data → Modulation → Channel → Synchronization → Demodulation → Detection/Decoding The objective is to develop researchers who understand the mathematical foundations, algorithms and actual hardware implementation of communication and navigation receivers. ? We are looking for researchers, not just JRFsThese positions are intended for candidates who are seriously interested in pursuing a PhD and developing deep expertise in communication, navigation and embedded receiver systems. The work will require strong mathematical foundations, programming ability, problem-solving skills and willingness to work hands-on with hardware. If you are excited about building the next generation of resilient GNSS, LEO-PNT and 5G/6G joint navigation-communication systems, this could be an excellent opportunity to pursue a PhD while working on challenging real-world research problems. ? Fellowship: As per applicable Government of India rules and funding agency norms. ?

How to apply
Interested candidates should send their CV along with a brief statement describing their technical background, research interests and why they would like to pursue a PhD in this area to: ?
[email protected] Strong fundamentals matter more than simply knowing a particular software tool. We are looking for candidates who want to understand, design and build the receiver.
