- First 30-day focus: Data migration, report validation, automation and operational readiness Role Summary We are seeking an experienced SQL Server and Power BI Developer to support the migration from a legacy system to Sage X3 ERP. The role will own the SQL Server staging environment and Power BI data model, ensuring existing sales, margin, scan and cost reports remain accurate and uninterrupted throughout the transition. You will collaborate with business users, finance, sales operations, product management and the ERP implementation team to map data sources, maintain master data, validate reporting and automate data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities
Requirements and Data Modelling
- Capture field-level reporting requirements and document source systems, business rules, ownership and refresh frequency.
- Design a refined data model integrating legacy history and ERP data without disrupting existing reports.
- Maintain field mapping specifications and coordinate data reviews with business owners. SQL Server and Data Integration
- Develop and maintain staging tables, views and stored procedures to integrate ERP and legacy data.
- Manage cutover dates, code mappings, collation consistency and reconciliation.
- Automate data loads, synchronisation and change logging. Master Data, Scan Data and Costs
- Maintain customer and product cross-references,



including code consolidation and primary-code assignments.
- Reconcile reference data and prioritise mapping issues by revenue.
- Integrate retail scan data and standard costs into the staging environment.
- Transition spreadsheet-maintained data to ERP-managed sources wherever possible. Power BI Development
- Migrate existing reports to current staging sources while preserving report layouts, relationships and measures.
- Develop shared customer and product dimensions to maintain historical consistency.
- Manage Power Query, DAX, gateways, scheduled refresh and incremental refresh.
- Identify and resolve reporting dependencies on fields not available in the new ERP. Testing and Operations
- Build automated checks for source reconciliation, mapping coverage, data quality and freshness.
- Validate ERP test and production data and support finance parallel-run sign-off.
- Schedule and monitor nightly jobs, configure failure alerts and maintain operational documentation.
- Conduct daily post-go-live validation during the initial two-week period. First 30-Day Priorities
- Complete field-level requirements and ERP source mapping.
- Document the refined data model and establish like-for-like sources for existing reports.
- Correct customer and product mappings and obtain business-owner sign-off for high-revenue items.
- Deploy staging views, synchronisation procedures, audit logging and automated tests.




- Reconcile migrated reports against existing versions and validate production cutover data.
- Integrate scan data and standard costs, introduce shared dimensions and retire spreadsheet-based dimension files.
- Review measure impacts, automate nightly jobs, configure alerts and publish an operations runbook. Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on T-SQL and SQL Server experience, including views, stored procedures, dynamic SQL, transactions, cross-database queries and collation handling.
- Experience with ERP implementation, data migration and cross-system reconciliation.
- Strong requirements-gathering skills and experience documenting field-level business rules and mappings.
- Data modelling expertise, including star schemas, multiple fact tables and shared dimensions.
- Master data management experience covering code mapping, consolidation, data quality and audit logging.
- 4+ years of Power BI experience, including Power Query (M), DAX, gateways, scheduled refresh and incremental refresh.
- Strong technical documentation and stakeholder management skills. Nice to Have
- Experience with Sage X3 or a similar ERP system.
- Food manufacturing, distribution or direct-store-delivery reporting experience.
- Knowledge of pay-for-scan data, standard costing, stales, distribution types and cost-to-serve reporting.
- SQL Server Agent scheduling and monitoring experience.
- Experience working with Power BI fact tables containing 50 million or more rows.
