Role Summary

We are looking for a CAD designer on the product and production side. You will design kitchen cabinets and related modular products, then turn them into accurate production drawings, hardware and material mapping, cut lists and nesting layouts, so the factory builds right the first time with minimum wastage. This role is about how our products are built. Client meetings, space planning, kitchen layouts and 3D presentations are handled by the Interior Designer.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop kitchen cabinets and related modular products, including base, wall, tall, corner and loft units, drawer boxes, shutters, shelving and accessory units, and create current products and variants as needed.
- Prepare detailed production drawings for every unit, with panel dimensions, joinery, drilling, grooving and edge-banding details.
- Take approved designs and final site dimensions from the Interior Designer, convert them into production-ready unit drawings, and clarify any gaps before release to production.
- Do hardware and material mapping: assign hinges, drawer channels, lift-ups, handles, connectors, laminates, finishes and edge banding to each unit and panel, and prepare accurate BOMs and cut lists.
- Prepare nesting layouts for CNC routers and panel saws, optimising sheet usage, grain direction and edge-band mapping, and keep wastage low with clear part labelling.
- Generate and verify machine-ready files (DXF / NC code / CAM output) and coordinate with CNC operators and production on programs and setups.

- Review every design for manufacturability and cost. Check tolerances, hardware clearances and material limits, and suggest standardisation that reduces rejections and wastage.
- Build and maintain a library of standard cabinet modules, parametric templates and hardware data, so repeat orders are faster and consistent.
- Keep drawing files organised with version control and revise them promptly for approved changes.
- Coordinate with production, store and QC teams, and use their and installation feedback to improve product designs and drawings.

Requirements

- 4–5 years of experience in kitchen cabinet or modular furniture product design, with strong knowledge of carcass construction, joinery and standard hardware (hinges, channels, lift-ups, handles).
- Good understanding of panel materials: plywood, MDF, HDHMR, laminates, acrylic and edge banding.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and at least one cabinet or furniture design software such as Pytha, Polyboard, Cabinet Vision, imos or similar.
- Hands-on experience with nesting or cutting-optimisation software (for example Cut Rite, OptiNest, Biesse, Homag or similar).
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.

Good to Have

- Experience generating CNC programs and working directly with CNC router, panel saw and edge bander operators.
- Parametric design or product-library building experience.
- SolidWorks, Inventor or similar for hardware and accessory parts, and basic knowledge of material costing.
