QA AND TESTING ENGINEER

Pia Prescience Private Limited, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh

Full-time, office-based

Testing every recent version of Pia on real phones and emulators, and finding problems before pharmacies do.

ABOUT PIA

Pia is pharmacy software that runs on a phone. It does billing, stock and expiry, purchases, reorders and the day's accounts. A supplier's bill is entered from a photo, stock is tracked by batch and expiry date, and GST reports and the drug register are kept ready. The owner decides what each staff member can see and do.

HOW THE JOB WORKS

You find the problems in Pia before a pharmacy does. Every new version of Pia comes to you first. You test it on real phones and emulators, trace each problem to its exact steps and logs, and check every fix before the version reaches shops.

Pia runs on Android phones and iPhones and is built with React Native. A new version reaches phones in two ways: over the air within minutes, or as a new store build. You test both.

You work from our Jabalpur office, with the engineering team.

What matters is finding a problem before a pharmacy finds it.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Planning the tests

- Write test cases for every part of Pia, each with its steps and expected result: billing and printing, purchases and supplier bills entered from a photo, returns, stock and expiry, appointments, reports, GST and the day close.

- Keep a regression checklist and run it in full on every new build before it reaches shops. For each change, also test what it could break.

Testing

- Install test builds from our internal build links, and test over-the-air updates on each channel before they reach shops.

- Test on Android emulators running Android 14, 15 and 16, and on real low-cost Android phones and iPhones, including large font and display sizes. The keyboard and the edges of the screen behave differently on each Android version.

- Test on slow, dropping and no network, and when the app is closed and reopened in the middle of a task.

- Test as owner, worker and receptionist. Check that each role can see and do only what the owner allows.

- Test in English and in Hindi, with the Bluetooth bill printer, and with the camera for supplier bills and medicine packs.

- Check the numbers: bill totals, GST, discounts, returns, stock after every sale and purchase, and the day's cash.

- Check saved data with SQL queries on our test shops.

Reporting

- Record every problem in the bug tracker: the build, the phone and its Android version, the role, the language, the steps, the expected and actual result, a screenshot or screen recording, and the log. Someone who has never seen the problem should be able to repeat it from your report.

- When the app crashes or a screen goes blank, capture the error from the phone's logs with Android Studio's Logcat or adb.

- Give each problem a severity, and mark it as a bug, an improvement,

or a question that needs a decision.

- Reproduce problems reported by shops and by our field team, and add them to the tracker.

- Check every fix again on the build that carries it, and mark it fixed only when it works.

- Before each release, tell the team what was tested, what failed and what was not tested.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- Knows software testing well: test cases, regression, smoke and exploratory testing, and severity.

- Hands-on with Android developer tools: Android Studio emulators, installing builds with adb, and reading Logcat.

- Basic SQL.

- Hands-on with Android phones and iPhones, Bluetooth printers and weak mobile networks.

- Careful with detail. Notices when a number, a word or a screen is wrong.

- Fluent Hindi. Enough English to write a clear problem report.

- Good with spreadsheets.

- Can be trusted with a shop's private business information.

GOOD TO HAVE

- Experience testing mobile apps, especially React Native apps.

- Writing automated tests for mobile apps, with a tool such as Maestro, Appium or Detox.

- Testing APIs with a tool such as Postman.

- Basic JavaScript or TypeScript.

- Pharmacy experience, such as a D.Pharm or B.Pharm, or work at a pharmacy counter.

- An engineering or computer science degree.

You do not need to be a developer, but you should be at home with developer tools.

HOW TO APPLY

Before you apply, download Pia from the Play Store or App Store and try it.
