Traelli

Thiruvananthapuram

We are hiring a Product Designer (UI/UX) to shape every screen Traelli ships and build our design system. We are pre-launch and pre-seed, and we are aiming to launch within the next 3–4 months, tentatively in February 2027.

The role at a glance

- Role: Product Designer (UI/UX), one of our first hires
- Stage: pre-launch and pre-seed
- Launch: targeted within 3–4 months, tentatively February 2027
- Reports to: Head of Engineering, working closely with the founder
- Works with: our mobile and backend engineers, operations, and the field team who write our repair content
- Location: Kochi or Chennai, confirmed with the launch district; research in homes and with technicians
- Employment: full time, on-site
- Pay: ₹7–10 lakh a year fixed (CTC), set by experience
- Languages: English is mandatory. Malayalam or Tamil is a strong plus.

About Traelli

Traelli is building a better way to get AC, electrical and plumbing repairs done at home, starting in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Customers will book through an app and describe the problem in a structured way. One verified partner technician attends, follows a guided job flow, records evidence, and quotes against what they found. Prices are shown before work starts, there is no surge pricing, and payments go through a licensed payment provider.

The founder runs an HVAC field-services business, and the product is built on that field experience.

Where we are

We are pre-launch and pre-seed. There are no customers or technicians on the platform yet. The product is specified in writing, and a brand logo and an early app style exist (Hanken Grotesk, green and orange), but there is no design system yet.

We are aiming to launch within the next 3–4 months, tentatively in February 2027. The date may move as we finish the product and line up our first technicians, and we will tell you plainly if it does.

This role suits a designer who wants to shape a product from its first version,

with real ownership in a small team.

What you will do

Trust is the product: honest prices before work starts, clear safety prompts, and evidence the customer can see. Design decides whether that comes across.

Your priorities around launch

1. Before launch: review and test the launch-critical screens with households and technicians: booking, safety prompts, prices and quotes, payment and job status.
2. Launch: watch real use closely, and fix what confuses people quickly.
3. After launch: turn our early app style into a full design system, then work through the technician app and the operations console.

Your responsibilities

- Design system. Tokens, components and patterns for React Native and React, documented in Figma.
- Type and language. A Malayalam or Tamil plus English type system that stays readable on small, low-cost screens.
- Customer app. 26 specified screens: problem description, safety prompts, prices and quotes before work starts, booking, payment and job status.
- Technician app. 16 specified screens built for field conditions (small screens, bright sun or poor light, patchy signal): checklists, guided steps, photo evidence, measurements and a clear STOP for unsafe conditions.
- Operations console. Ten work queues for dispatch, support and finance, designed for speed and accuracy.
- Research and testing. Usability tests with real households and technicians in the launch district, before and after launch.
- Honest design. No dark patterns: no drip pricing, no false urgency and clear cancellation,

in line with India's consumer-protection rules.
- Handoff. Developer-ready specs with every state and edge case, and review of what ships.

What you will bring

- 3–5 years designing mobile products that shipped to real users, with a portfolio that shows your process as well as the finished screens.
- Strong interaction and visual design, and fluency in Figma: components, variants and prototypes.
- Hands-on user research and usability testing, including with people who rarely use apps.
- Design for low-end Android: performance, contrast, touch targets and offline states.
- Experience building or extending a design system with engineers.
- Clear writing: microcopy, error states and instructions in plain language.
- English is mandatory.
- Comfortable with the pace and uncertainty of a pre-launch startup.
- Based in, or willing to move to, Kochi or Chennai, and comfortable doing research in homes and on job sites.

Nice to have

- Malayalam or Tamil, and experience with Indian-language typography.
- Service, booking, health or field-workforce apps.
- Accessibility standards such as WCAG.
- Internal tools or dashboards.
- Illustration or motion for onboarding.

What success looks like in your first year
- Launch-critical screens tested with households and technicians before launch.
- A design system in use across both apps and the operations console.
- Each core flow tested with real users in the launch district, with the findings shipped.
- Every screen readable in Malayalam or Tamil plus English.
- No dark patterns anywhere in the product.

What we offer

- ₹7–10 lakh a year fixed (CTC), set by experience.
- Group health insurance and a work laptop.
- The chance to set the look, feel and design system of a product from its first version.
- A small team where your work is visible from the first week.
