JOB DESCRIPTION
– ELECTRICIAN Department: Maintenance / Administration Designation: Electrician Location: MVSR Engineering College / Matrusri Engineering College Reporting To: Maintenance Supervisor / Manager – Administration Employment Type: Full time 1. Job Purpose To ensure the proper functioning, maintenance, and safety of all electrical installations, equipment, and systems within the institution by carrying out routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs. 2. Key Roles and Responsibilities (KRAs) 1. Electrical Maintenance
- Maintain electrical wiring, switches, sockets, distribution boards, circuit breakers, and lighting systems.
- Attend to electrical complaints and breakdowns across the campus.
- Repair and replace faulty electrical components. 2.Preventive Maintenance
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical panels, wiring, and equipment.
- Identify potential electrical faults and take corrective action.
- Ensure proper functioning of fans, lights, pumps, motors, and other electrical equipment. 3. Power Supply Management
- Monitor electrical supply and distribution across classrooms, laboratories, offices, hostels, and other campus facilities.
- Assist in the operation and basic maintenance of generators, UPS systems, and other backup power systems.
- Coordinate with external electricians and electricity department personnel whenever required. 4. Safety and Compliance
- Follow electrical safety standards and institutional safety procedures.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing electrical work.
- Ensure proper earthing and prevent electrical hazards.
- Immediately report major electrical faults and safety risks to the reporting authority. 5. Maintenance Records




- Maintain records of electrical complaints, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
- Monitor the availability of electrical tools, spare parts, and materials.
- Report material requirements to the Maintenance Supervisor. 6. Coordination
- Coordinate with housekeeping, security, hostel wardens, laboratory staff, and administrative departments.
- Attend emergency electrical complaints on priority.
- Support electrical arrangements for institutional events and functions. 3. Educational Qualification
- ITI in Electrician Trade / Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Relevant technical certification will be an added advantage. 4. Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in electrical maintenance.
- Experience in educational institutions, commercial buildings, hospitals, or large facilities will be preferred. 5. Technical Skills
- Knowledge of electrical wiring and installations.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical faults.
- Knowledge of electrical panels, MCBs, DBs, earthing, and circuit breakers.
- Basic knowledge of generators, motors, pumps, and UPS systems.
- Ability to operate electrical testing instruments such as multimeters and clamp meters. 6. Key Competencies

- Safety awareness and discipline. 7. Working Conditions
- Required to work across the institutional campus, including academic blocks, laboratories, hostels, and administrative buildings.
