Role & responsibilities 1. Operational Planning and Productivity
- Monitor truck loading, hauling and unloading times and reduce avoidable delays.
- Identify slow operations caused by loading delays, haul-road conditions or inefficient truck movement and coordinate corrective action.
- Allocate suitable trucks to excavators according to equipment capacity and operational requirements.
- Balance truck availability across loading points to minimise excavator waiting time and truck queues. 2. Field Supervision and Coordination
- Observe loading operations from designated safe locations and guide operators on truck positioning and loading alignment through approved communication methods.
- Coordinate with excavator operators and truck drivers to maintain a continuous flow of vehicles.
- Support one-way traffic arrangements wherever approved and practical.
- Report haul-road obstructions, poor road conditions and congestion, and coordinate clearance or repairs. 3. Trip Monitoring and Loading Control
- Maintain accurate records of each trucks completed trips, including truck number, loading time, unloading time and total cycle duration.
- Use Excel, reporting sheets or site software to record and organise trip data.
- Monitor excavator bucket passes per truck and loading consistency against approved payload requirements.
- Identify underloading, overloading and irregular loading practices and arrange corrective action. 4. Operator Performance and Shift Management
- Monitor and record the performance of truck drivers and excavator operators.
- Identify repeated delays and provide timely, practical feedback to the personnel concerned.
- Recommend coaching or reassignment where performance does not improve.
- Deploy suitably skilled operators during periods of high operational demand.
- Allocate manpower and equipment to achieve shift targets within safe operating limits. 5. Breakdown and Downtime Coordination
- Act as the field contact for equipment-related operational problems.
- Report breakdowns promptly to the maintenance team and follow up on restoration.
- Coordinate the availability of fuel, lubricants and maintenance support.
- Record downtime, identify recurring problems and escalate issues affecting production. 6. Communication and Team Leadership
- Maintain continuous communication with the control room, foreman and Mining In-charge.
- Adjust truck dispatching in coordination with the responsible team as site conditions change.
- Provide hourly updates on completed trips, delays, equipment availability and production progress.
- Motivate drivers and operators to achieve targets through teamwork and healthy competition within approved safety requirements.
- Ensure clear shift handover covering equipment status, pending work and unresolved operational issues. Reporting Requirements Report Information to include Daily / Shift Trip Summary Total completed trips, truck-wise output, average cycle time and percentage change against the previous shift or day. Operator Performance Feedback Performance of drivers and excavator operators, leading performers, personnel requiring improvement and recommended corrective action. Operational Improvement Report Loading delays, road problems, equipment breakdowns, production bottlenecks and recommendations for road improvements or additional equipment support.
