Roles and Responsibilities
Lead DFMEA Sessions: Moderate and facilitate design failure workshops, guiding engineering teams through structured brainstorming and risk evaluation
Risk Mitigation: Identify potential failure modes, causes, and effects; track the reduction of Risk Priority Numbers (RPN) and implement recommended actions
Standardization & Governance: Ensure all project documents comply with industry standards (e.g., AIAG/VDA FMEA Handbook) and internal quality guidelines
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary interface between R&D;, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and testing
Mentorship & Training: Educate engineering teams on DFMEA methodologies, fostering a team-oriented and risk-aware product development culture
Data-Driven Strategy:
Maintain DFMEA databases and leverage field data, warranty claims, and lessons learned to enhance future design robustness
Essential Skills
Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering depending on the industry (e.g., Automotive, Electronics, Manufacturing)
Methodology: Solid knowledge of AIAG/VDA methodologies, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T;), and Six Sigma principles
Software: Proficiency in FMEA software, PLM systems, and relevant CAD platforms
Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills to influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
