Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and quality-oriented Quality Control Engineer for our Transformer Tanks Division. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring product quality at every stage of manufacturing, from incoming raw materials to final inspection and dispatch.

The ideal candidate should have practical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, welding inspection, dimensional inspection, leak testing, and quality documentation, preferably in transformer tank or heavy fabrication manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

1. In-Process Quality Control

- Monitor quality at various stages of transformer tank manufacturing, including cutting, bending, fit-up, fabrication, welding, grinding and assembly.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure products comply with approved drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
- Inspect critical dimensions, tolerances, alignment, flatness and squareness of fabricated components.
- Monitor welding quality and identify defects such as porosity, cracks, undercuts, incomplete welding and improper weld joints.
- Ensure that inspection checkpoints are followed at every stage of production.

2. Final Inspection & Testing

- Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of finished transformer tanks.
- Perform or coordinate leak testing, air pressure testing and other specified tests as per approved procedures.
- Verify weld quality, flange dimensions, nozzle positions, mounting arrangements and other critical parameters.




- Ensure that all quality requirements are fulfilled before offering products for final approval and dispatch.
- Coordinate with the production and testing teams for rectification of identified defects.

3. Raw Material Inspection

- Inspect incoming raw materials such as MS sheets, plates, channels, angles, pipes, flanges and other bought-out components.
- Verify material grades, thickness, dimensions and material test certificates (MTC), wherever applicable.
- Ensure proper identification and traceability of materials throughout the manufacturing process.

4. Quality Documentation & ISO Compliance

- Maintain inspection reports, checklists, rejection reports and quality records.
- Prepare and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), where applicable.
- Maintain records of non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure compliance with the company's ISO quality management system and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Support internal audits, external audits and customer inspections.

5. Quality Improvement & Coordination

- Identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective actions in coordination with production and maintenance teams.
- Monitor rejection, rework and customer complaint trends.
- Conduct root cause analysis for quality failures and suggest preventive measures.
- Coordinate with production supervisors to improve process quality and reduce wastage and rework.
- Ensure that approved drawings and latest revisions are available on the shop floor.





Required Technical Skills

- Knowledge of transformer tank manufacturing and sheet metal fabrication.
- Valuable understanding of welding processes, particularly MIG/MAG welding.
- Knowledge of dimensional measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Measuring Tape, Welding Gauge and other inspection tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Practical knowledge of leak testing and pressure testing.
- Understanding of material inspection, MTC verification and material traceability.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems, NCR, CAPA and root cause analysis.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and quality documentation.

Educational Qualification & Experience

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in Quality Control / Quality Assurance in a manufacturing or fabrication industry.
- Experience in transformer tank manufacturing, pressure vessels, heavy fabrication or sheet metal fabrication will be preferred.

Pay: ₹17,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
