Varaha is a global climate‑technology venture dedicated to scaling carbon‑removal solutions that directly benefit smallholder land stewards. Our portfolio includes regenerative agriculture, afforestation, biochar production, and enhanced rock weathering. Within three years of operation, we have removed or avoided more than one million tonnes of CO₂ and distributed the majority of project revenues to over 100,000 farmers across South Asia and Sub‑Saharan Africa. To sustain this rapid growth, we need skilled Telecallers who can serve as the vital link between our remote data‑validation teams and the farmers who implement our interventions on the ground.
As a Telecaller, you will work from home while reaching out to farmers in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and West Bengal. Each day begins with a review of the call script and the latest project dashboard updates. You will then place outbound calls, following a clear standard operating procedure designed to gather information, answer farmer queries, and guide them through evidence‑submission processes. Your voice will represent Varaha’s commitment to transparency, accuracy, and farmer empowerment.
The core of the role revolves around data validation. After field staff upload photographs and short videos of on‑farm activities, you will compare each file against predefined project requirements. This includes checking that images are clear, correctly timestamped, and capture the specific activity (for example, a plot under alternate wetting and drying irrigation). Any gaps—such as missing angles, poor lighting, or incomplete documentation—must be flagged immediately. You will log each issue in a structured validation sheet, noting the nature of the discrepancy, the farmer’s identifier, and the recommended corrective action.
Effective communication is essential. You will need to explain validation outcomes to farmers in a explicit, respectful manner, often in their native dialects.
This may involve translating technical requirements into easy, actionable steps. Your ability to listen actively, empathize with farmer challenges, and provide concise guidance will directly influence the speed and quality of data turnaround.
Collaboration with the field team is another key responsibility. After flagging an issue, you will coordinate with the farmer’s assigned field officer to ensure that corrected evidence is captured and uploaded promptly. This may involve scheduling follow‑up calls, sharing best‑practice tips for photography, or troubleshooting technical barriers such as limited internet connectivity. Your proactive approach helps keep project timelines on track and maintains the integrity of the carbon‑removal metrics that underpin Varaha’s impact reporting.
Beyond day‑to‑day tasks, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. By identifying recurring data‑quality problems, you can suggest enhancements to the SOP, propose new checklist items for field staff, or recommend training modules for farmers. Your insights will be shared in weekly internal meetings, where cross‑functional teams discuss ways to streamline workflows and reduce validation cycles.
The role offers a unique blend of customer‑facing interaction and analytical rigor. While you do not need prior experience in climate tech, familiarity with agricultural practices—especially alternate wetting and drying (AWD) irrigation—will help you understand the context of the evidence you review. A graduate degree is preferred, but candidates with a solid 12th‑grade education and strong communication abilities are encouraged to apply.
Varaha values diversity, local knowledge, and a passion for climate solutions. If you are comfortable speaking Hindi, English, and either Bengali or Telugu, and you enjoy working in a remote, results‑oriented environment, this position could be an excellent fit. Join us to help smallholder farmers become key players in the global fight against climate change while building a rewarding career in a high‑impact sector.
