JOB DESCRIPTION – VMC OPERATOR CUM PROGRAMMER

Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.

1. Job Purpose

To independently handle VMC machine programming, setting, operation and machining activities for manufacturing precision mechanical components used in Bottle Filling Machines, Bottle Washing Machines, Bottle Packaging Machines and SPM machinery.

The candidate must be capable of both programming and operating the VMC machine independently, ensuring accuracy, quality and timely production.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. VMC Programming

- Prepare and modify CNC/VMC programs as per engineering drawings.
- Generate and edit G-code and M-code programs.
- Understand and interpret 2D/3D mechanical drawings.
- Develop machining sequences and tool paths.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts and machining parameters.
- Optimize programs to reduce cycle time and material wastage.
- Perform program simulation and verify machining operations.
- Modify existing programs as per design changes.
- Maintain program records for repeat jobs.

B. VMC Machine Operation

- Independently operate VMC machines for production.
- Perform machine setup, job loading and workpiece alignment.
- Handle tool setting, tool offsets and work offsets.
- Set machine parameters and verify machining conditions.
- Execute programs and monitor machining operations.
- Check first-piece dimensions before batch production.
- Monitor tool wear, machine performance and machining accuracy.
- Troubleshoot machining and operational issues.

C. Drawing & Component Understanding

- Read and understand engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.
- Understand component geometry, hole positions, slots, pockets and profiles.
- Manufacture precision components as per approved drawings.




- Coordinate with the Design and Production departments for drawing-related clarifications.

D. Quality Control

- Inspect machined components during and after production.
- Use Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Bore Gauge and other measuring instruments.
- Maintain dimensional accuracy and required tolerances.
- Identify machining defects and take corrective action.
- Ensure minimum rejection and rework.

E. Machine Maintenance & Safety

- Perform daily machine cleaning and basic maintenance.
- Check coolant, lubrication and machine condition.
- Maintain cutting tools and accessories.
- Report machine breakdowns and technical issues.
- Follow all machine safety procedures and company SOPs.

F. Production & Reporting

- Complete assigned jobs within planned timelines.
- Maintain daily production and machine utilization records.
- Track job-wise production quantity and rejection.
- Coordinate with Production and Quality teams.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and tool management.

3. Required Technical Skills

- Practical experience in VMC programming and operation.
- Solid knowledge of G-code and M-code.
- Knowledge of CNC/VMC machining processes.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, SolidCAM, Fusion 360 or equivalent preferred.
- Understanding of cutting tools, inserts and machining parameters.
- Knowledge of work offsets, tool offsets and tool setting.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and tolerances.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments and inspection methods.
- Ability to independently handle machining jobs from programming to final component inspection.

7. Important Selection Criteria

Candidates who have experience only in VMC operation or only in programming will not be preferred.

The candidate must demonstrate practical knowledge of:

- Creating a new VMC program.
- Understanding G-code and M-code.
- Setting tools and work offsets.
- Job setting and alignment.
- Running and monitoring machining operations.
- Checking finished component dimensions.

Final selection will be based on practical machine programming and operation skills.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
