The institution serves Ethiopia's livestock sector and exports vaccines to other African markets. The programme will help the institution determine its strategic role in the animal-health vaccine market and identify the commercial model, capabilities, and investments required to achieve it. The work progresses through four stages: Baseline, Strategic Options, Market Validation, and Investment Readiness, culminating in a formal go/no-go decision at Month 6. The team will work alongside the client's commercial, production, quality, and finance teams. It comprises an International Lead, a full-time Ethiopia-based Country Lead, and specialist consultants covering market analysis, financial modelling, vaccine manufacturing and GMP, and ESG. THE ROLE As International Lead, you will steer the programme's market economics, strategic options, manufacturing assessments, and investment case. You will lead specialist consultants, consolidate their outputs into actionable recommendations, and present findings to senior client management at key decision points.

15+ Years THE OPPORTUNITY This is an opportunity to shape the commercial and strategic direction of a national vaccine producer serving one of Africa's largest livestock sectors. You will lead a focused, multidisciplinary team through evidence generation, strategic decision-making, market validation, and investment readiness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead product-level costing, margin analysis, pricing, and market economics for the vaccine portfolio.
• Evaluate strategic options and recommend a 3–5-year pathway for the institution.
• Assess manufacturing, quality, and technology-transfer options against relevant WOAH and GMP standards.
• Lead the investment case, financial modelling, and funding-options appraisal for 1–2 priority opportunities.
• Shape the Month 6 go/no-go decision and develop the supporting evidence and recommendations.
• Direct specialist consultants and ensure the quality and integration of their outputs.
• Present strategic findings and recommendations to senior client management.




• Work closely with the Country Lead to integrate field evidence and market validation into the strategy and investment case. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Education
• Degree in Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or Bioprocess Engineering.
• An MBA or Master's degree in Economics or Finance is preferred. Skilled Experience
• 15+ years of experience in vaccines, biologics, or animal health, combining manufacturing knowledge with commercial economics.
• Proven track record in commercial strategy or market development for vaccines or veterinary products.
• Experience working with public institutions or state-owned enterprises in Africa or comparable markets.
• Hands-on experience developing product-costing models, pricing strategies, and investment cases for manufacturing businesses.
• Strong stakeholder-management and presentation skills, with the ability to guide senior-level decisions through evidence-based recommendations. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
• Knowledge of WOAH standards, GMP, and technology-transfer arrangements in vaccine production.
• Experience working in Ethiopia or East Africa.
