Mumbai
Company The Dessert Republic is an experiential dessert café brand under UNiK Dessert World LLP, founded by Nikesh and Urvi Gala. Join a growing house of dessert brands and work closely with the founders, café teams, and office staff to build dependable people processes. Role Overview
• Own day-to-day HR coordination for café dessert artisans, office staff, and other approved roles.
• Recruit the right people, help them join smoothly, and keep employee records and attendance inputs accurate.
• Understand the company's SOPs, follow them yourself, and coordinate training and checks with the relevant team leads.
• Work with the founders, café leads, and department heads on staffing, employee concerns, performance follow-up, and retention.
• Make sure agreed people actions and SOP corrections reach completion, with clear updates to the founders.
• Salary of Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 45,000 for experienced candidates. Perks Proposed role opportunities:
• Work directly with the founders and see how staffing decisions support business growth.
• Gain practical HR exposure across café, office, and related business teams.
• Own useful improvements to recruitment, onboarding, and SOP training systems.
• Build broader people-operations responsibility as performance and business needs develop.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain an approved manpower plan for café dessert artisans, café support roles, office staff, and other priority vacancies; track shortages, replacements, and upcoming joining dates.
• Run recruitment from sourcing and screening to interview coordination, approved offers, and joining follow-up; maintain role-wise pipelines and use practical assessments with the relevant hiring owner.
• Recruit for office and specialist positions such as accounts, sales, marketing, administration, and production support as approved; involve the appropriate functional lead in skill assessment.
• Complete onboarding checklists, required employment documents, induction, reporting-line clarity,
and role expectations; coordinate buddy support and training with the café or department lead.
• Learn the company's approved HR and operating SOPs, follow them in your own work, and explain the relevant procedures to each employee in a language they understand.
• Maintain a role-wise SOP training matrix with document versions, assigned trainers, completion dates, acknowledgements, and practical checks by the relevant supervisor.
• Make planned café visits and coordinate with office and department leads to check SOP use, record gaps, assign corrective actions, and verify closure rather than relying only on reminders.
• Reconcile attendance, leave, shift changes, late arrivals, and joining/exit dates with approved records; submit accurate payroll inputs and authorised changes to accounts.
• Track café staffing and shift coverage with café leads, escalating absences and shortages early; keep roster changes within approved staffing arrangements.
• Maintain employee records, confirmation and review trackers, and HR workflows in the company's chosen tools or approved trackers; keep sensitive records access controlled.
• Hold regular employee check-ins, hear concerns fairly, document relevant facts, and coordinate confidential grievance or conduct reviews with authorised decision-makers.
• Coordinate performance feedback, probation reviews where applicable, refresher training, and agreed improvement actions with supervisors; flag overdue decisions to founders.
• Manage resignation follow-up, exit interviews, handovers, clearance, and final-settlement inputs with accounts; analyse early exits and recurring retention issues.
• Give founders a concise weekly report on vacancies,
interview-to-joining progress, attendance exceptions, attrition, training gaps, and overdue SOP actions; maintain approved HR records and coordinate compliance queries with the designated adviser. Candidate Requirement
• Required: practical HR experience covering recruitment, onboarding, employee coordination, attendance records, and follow-up; 3-6 years is suggested for this scope.
• Required: ability to work with both frontline teams and office staff, adapting communication while applying approved processes consistently.
• Required: ability to read an SOP, turn it into a explicit checklist or training plan, and follow up with supervisors on actual use.
• Required: confidence maintaining accurate hiring, attendance, employee-document, and training trackers in spreadsheets or an HR system.
• Required: sound judgement when handling employee concerns, confidential records, conflicting accounts, and matters requiring escalation.
• Preferred: café, restaurant, hospitality, retail, food production, or another business with multiple locations and shift-based staff.
• Ability to source candidates through job platforms, referrals, and suitable local channels, and keep candidates informed through joining.
• HR or business education is useful; relevant hands-on experience and demonstrated execution matter more than a specific degree. We Are Looking For
• Close the loop on vacancies, joining commitments, missing records, and employee requests.
• Check that a process is being used in practice, rather than treating a signed document as completion.
• Be approachable with staff while remaining fair, consistent, and clear about approved expectations.
• Flag staffing and people risks early, with facts and a workable next step.
• Follow the SOP yourself, accept feedback, and propose changes through the right approval route.
• Take responsibility for trackers and deadlines without needing founders to chase every action.
