Company Description Radant Sensors LLP is an India-based research and technology company that develops rapid, non-destructive, field-deployable analytical solutions using spectroscopy, artificial intelligence, and IoT. The organization focuses on real-time testing platforms for agriculture, food quality, environmental monitoring, and industrial applications, helping stakeholders make faster, data-driven decisions. Radant works closely with industry partners, research institutions, government bodies, and academia to create scientifically validated solutions that enhance quality, safety, productivity, and sustainability. With a strong emphasis on indigenous innovation and applied research, the company is dedicated to transforming traditional laboratory analysis into practical tools for in office use. Role Description We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical & Optical Design Engineer to spearhead the structural, optical, and thermal engineering of a custom, discrete-band Near-Infrared / Short-Wave Infrared (NIR/SWIR) diffuse reflectance spectrometer. In this role, one needs to bridge the gap between physical prototyping and advanced physics. One will be directly responsible for designing a completely light-tight optomechanical chassis, modeling precision optical paths using SWIR-transparent optics, and developing robust thermal management solutions for an actively cooled (TEC) detector package.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience bringing precision scientific instrumentation or optical devices from concept to working prototype. Qualifications
• CAD Modeling & Engineering: Proficiency in SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360 or equivalent for advanced parametric modeling, assembly design, and tolerance analysis.
• Optical Design & Ray Tracing: Knowledge/Experience with optical simulation software to model non-sequential ray tracing and light scattering.
• Thermal Management: Understanding of heat transfer mechanisms (conduction, forced convection). Experience running finite element method (FEM) thermal simulations to validate heatsink designs.
• Materials Knowledge: Familiarity with the optical properties of SWIR-transparent substrates and surface treatments to prevent stray light reflection.
• Education &
Experience:
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related instrumentation field. Experience in the similar Field is an added advantage Preferred Characteristics
• Prior experience working with NIR/SWIR sensors, spectroscopic systems, or remote sensing payloads.
• Familiarity with miniature motorized drive systems (stepper motors, micro-servos) and optical encoders/interrupters.
• A collaborative mindset capable of working closely with analog hardware and embedded firmware engineers to coordinate physical space constraints on custom PCBs.
