ABOUT THE ROLE
As Consultant – Financial Services Technology, Data & AI, you will lead the technology, data, and AI workstream for a technical assistance programme supporting a national agricultural development finance institution in Nigeria. The role focuses on building the digital foundations and practical analytics capabilities required for scalable agricultural finance. It spans data architecture, AI-enabled credit scoring, geospatial and satellite-based monitoring, digital financial services, and responsible-AI governance. You will work closely with the Institution's technology, credit, climate, and performance teams to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions and strengthen institutional digital capabilities.

Nigeria, with in-country travel THE PROGRAMME SkyQuest is delivering a technical assistance programme to strengthen a national agricultural development finance institution in Nigeria. The programme aims to improve the mobilisation and deployment of finance to agricultural enterprises and organisations serving smallholder farmers, particularly women and underserved producers. The embedded Technical Support Unit (TSU) works alongside the Institution's teams, focusing on transferring sustainable capabilities and embedding validated systems, processes, and practices within the Institution. THE OPPORTUNITY SkyQuest is seeking an experienced technology, data, and AI professional for a 24-month technical assistance programme supporting a national agricultural development finance institution in Nigeria. The programme aims to strengthen the Institution's digital and data capabilities to support more effective agricultural lending,



informed credit decisions, improved portfolio monitoring, and greater financial access for agricultural enterprises and smallholder farmers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assess the Institution's existing technology systems, data architecture, and digital channels, and develop a prioritised technology roadmap.
• Design a unified data foundation integrating relevant operational, farmer, satellite, and geospatial information.
• Develop and pilot AI/ML-enabled credit-scoring and analytics solutions to support lending and risk-management decisions.
• Build satellite-based crop and portfolio-monitoring capabilities, data flows, and management dashboards.
• Support digital banking, core banking, or loan-origination solutions that improve financial access and operational efficiency.
• Establish data governance, privacy, information security, and responsible-AI frameworks, including model oversight.
• Work with credit, climate, and performance specialists to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions.
• Embed systems and processes into the Institution's IT policies and procedures, train relevant teams, and facilitate the handover of models, documentation, and operational runbooks. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Education
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's degree will be an advantage. Qualified Experience
• 15+ years of experience in technology, data platforms, or AI/ML, ideally within financial services.
• Hands-on experience with credit scoring, geospatial analytics, and data architecture.
• Experience with core banking or loan-origination systems.
• Demonstrated experience applying responsible-AI principles, data privacy, and information-security practices. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
• Experience with digital banking or fintech platforms.
• Experience in agricultural or emerging-market data systems, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Previous experience working on development-partner-funded programmes.
