Senior Node.js Backend Developer

Role SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Node.js Backend Developer to join our core engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for building high-performance, scalable, and secure server-side applications and microservices. You will architect robust APIs, design low-latency database queries, and optimize high-throughput distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Architecture & Backend DevelopmentArchitect, build, and maintain production-grade RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and real-time backend services using Node.js and TypeScript / Express.js.

- Write clean, testable, modular, and maintainable code following SOLID principles and modern software design patterns.
- Leverage Node.js event loops, streams, workers, and asynchronous programming to maximize concurrency, throughput, and system performance.

2. Database Design & Data Layer OperationsDesign and optimize relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational (MongoDB, Redis) schemas.

- Write high-performance SQL queries, indexing strategies, and data models to maintain low latency under heavy throughput.
- Implement effective connection pooling, caching strategies (Redis/Memcached), and transaction safety.

3. Performance Tuning, Security & ReliabilityIdentify and eliminate performance bottlenecks, CPU spikes, memory leaks, and I/O latency using profiling tools.





- Implement enterprise-grade security practices, including OAuth2, JWT, rate limiting, encryption, validation schemas, and OWASP recommendations.
- Maintain system reliability through comprehensive unit/integration testing (Jest, Mocha, Supertest) and CI/CD pipelines.

4. Leadership & CollaborationCollaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams to deliver features end-to-end.

- Conduct code reviews, establish technical standards, and mentor mid-level/junior backend developers.
- Set up system telemetry, centralized logging, and APM tools (Datadog, SigNoz, Prometheus/Grafana) for rapid incident response.
- Technical Skills & QualificationsMust-Have Requirements:Experience: 4+ years of backend development experience, with at least 3+ years specifically building commercial Node.js applications at scale.

- Core Tech Stack: Strong mastery of JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, Node.js, and backend frameworks like Express.js, Fastify, or NestJS.
- Databases: Hands-on experience with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis), including ORMs/Query Builders (Prisma, TypeORM, Knex).
- API & Protocols: Deep understanding of RESTful API design, HTTP/S standards, WebSockets, and authentication flows (OAuth2/JWT).
- System Design: Solid understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven design, message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka, AWS SQS), and asynchronous processing.
- DevOps/Cloud Literacy: Experience with Docker, Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
