About Sipas Cafe

Sipas Cafe, located within Zostel Vilpatti in the beautiful hills of Kodaikanal, is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Cafe Sous Chef to join our team.

Our menu features a mix of Indian, Western, and Italian cuisine, including wood-fired pizzas. We welcome candidates who have a good foundation in Indian cooking and are eager to learn and expand their culinary skills. Training will be provided in preparing wood-fired pizzas and other Western and Italian dishes.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of Indian dishes, including breakfast, snacks, and main courses.

Assist in preparing Western and Italian dishes, including pasta, sandwiches, burgers, and other cafe favourites.

Learn and prepare wood-fired pizzas, including dough handling, topping preparation, and pizza baking techniques.

Maintain consistency in taste, quality, portion sizes, and presentation.

Ensure timely preparation and delivery of food orders.

Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.

Manage ingredients, stock rotation, and proper food storage.

Minimise food wastage and maintain efficient kitchen operations.

Coordinate with the cafe team to ensure smooth service during busy periods.

Follow recipes, kitchen procedures, and instructions from management.

Contribute ideas for menu improvements and new dishes.

Candidate Requirements

Basic cooking skills in Indian cuisine are essential.

Previous experience as a chef or cook in a restaurant, cafe, hotel, or similar establishment is preferred.





Knowledge of Western or Italian cuisine is an advantage but not compulsory.

Experience in making pizzas is not required, as training will be provided.

Willingness to learn new cooking techniques and work with different cuisines.

Ability to maintain food quality, hygiene, and consistency.

Good time management and the ability to handle orders efficiently.

A positive attitude, teamwork, punctuality, and a sense of responsibility.

Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Salary & Perks

Salary: 18,000 to 21,000 per month, depending on experience and skills.
