Overview The Ward Assistant supports the smooth operation of patient wards by maintaining cleanliness, ensuring proper laundry handling, and providing a secure, hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine housekeeping tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting of ward areas.
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, bathrooms, and communal spaces following hospital infection‑control protocols.
- Manage dry‑cleaning and laundry processes for patient linens, staff uniforms, and related textiles.
- Ensure toilets and washrooms are kept spotless, stocked with supplies, and fully functional.
- Remove waste and hazardous materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Report maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to the ward supervisor promptly.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of ward equipment for special procedures or emergencies.
- Follow all hospital policies on confidentiality, patient privacy, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.

Requirements

- Experience: 1–8 years in housekeeping, custodial services,



or a similar role within a healthcare or hospitality setting.
- Core Skills:
- Proficient in general cleaning, toilet sanitation, and floor care.
- Knowledge of dry‑cleaning processes and proper handling of linens.
- Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment safely.
- Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to hygiene standards.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Physical stamina to perform manual tasks and lift moderate loads.

Preferred Qualifications

- Certification in infection control or occupational health and safety.
- Familiarity with hospital waste segregation and hazardous material handling.

Working Conditions
