Job title: U.S. Tax Manager – International Tax, Lacerte & IRS Resolution

Workplace type: Remote | Location: India | Employment type: Full-time

About the role

We are hiring a U.S. Tax Manager for our client, a U.S.-based accounting practice that serves individuals, business owners and investors, including U.S.–Canada cross-border clients. We will share the client’s name with shortlisted candidates.

This is a full-time, long-term role. You will work fully remotely from India as a dedicated member of the client’s U.S. tax team.

Fixed gross salary: ₹18–24 lakh per year (₹1,50,000–₹2,00,000 per month)

Mandatory schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time The client needs a Tax Manager who can personally prepare complex U.S. individual returns in Lacerte, review the team’s work and represent clients in IRS matters. You will manage files from the first client conversation through to filing or resolution. That includes finding missing information, documenting tax positions, explaining options to clients and giving preparers clear feedback they can act on.

What you’ll do

- Prepare and review complex federal and multistate Forms 1040 and 1040-NR, including Schedule OI, residency analysis, dual-status filings and U.S.–Canada treaty positions.
- Review Schedules B, C, D and E, which cover investment income, self-employment, capital transactions, rental properties and pass-through income. Reconcile basis, depreciation and carryovers to the supporting workpapers.
- Prepare and review international filings, including Form 5471 for foreign corporations, Form 8621 for PFIC reporting and elections, and Forms 3520 and 3520-A for foreign gift and trust reporting.
- Determine filing obligations for disregarded entities. This includes Form 5472 with a pro forma Form 1120 for foreign-owned U.S. entities and Form 8858 for foreign disregarded entities and branches.

- Handle foreign tax credits and foreign asset and account reporting, including Form 1116, Form 8938 and FBAR.
- Manage IRS and state notices from receipt through follow-up. Analyze transcripts, find response deadlines, prepare supporting submissions and speak with the IRS under proper authorization. Matters may include penalty abatement, payment arrangements, amended returns and international information-return penalties.
- Assign work, review files in Lacerte, mentor preparers and manage deadlines. When a matter needs partner input, present the facts, your research and the course of action you recommend.

What you’ll bring

- At least 7 years of relevant U.S. tax experience, including hands-on preparation and review of complex individual returns and international reporting forms.
- An active IRS Enrolled Agent credential or an active U.S. CPA license that we can verify before hire.
- Recent, substantial Intuit Lacerte experience: preparing and reviewing returns, resolving diagnostics, validating carryovers and handling amendments.
- Direct experience with IRS resolution cases and with explaining notices, deadlines and next steps to clients.
- Experience supervising or mentoring preparers and taking responsibility for the quality and timeliness of their work.
- Excellent written and spoken English. You should be able to write a concise client email, lead a call and explain a complicated tax position in plain language.
- U.S.–Canada cross-border experience is especially valuable. Relevant experience at a Big Four, midsize or specialist CPA firm is welcome. Experience with IRS collections,

appeals, offers in compromise or international penalty cases is an asset.

Working hours and remote setup

You must cover 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. New York time, Monday–Friday, with a scheduled meal break. In India, that is 6:30 p.m.–3:30 a.m. IST during U.S. daylight saving time and 7:30 p.m.–4:30 a.m. IST during U.S. standard time.

Expect extra hours and occasional weekend work during peak filing periods. Peak-season schedules and pay will be agreed in advance. You will need a private workspace for confidential calls, reliable internet, backup internet and power, and the ability to use the client’s remote desktop, workflow and time-tracking systems.

Compensation The fixed gross salary is ₹18–24 lakh per year, before employee deductions. Where you fall in the range depends on your Lacerte skill, international tax experience, IRS case responsibility and ability to lead technical reviews. Benefits and any extra peak-season pay will be set out in the offer.

How to apply

Apply through LinkedIn with your résumé and answer the screening questions. In your résumé or cover note, please include:

1. Your active EA or U.S. CPA credential, years of U.S. tax experience and years spent reviewing or supervising others.
2. When you last used Lacerte regularly, and which international forms you have personally prepared or reviewed.
3. One IRS resolution case you handled: the issue, what you did and the outcome, without naming the client.
4. Your location, notice period, expected monthly gross salary in INR, and confirmation that you can work the full Eastern Time shift all year.

Selection process

- Shortlisted candidates will complete a technical interview, a paid practical assessment using sample tax information and a short written communication exercise. We will verify credentials and qualified references before hire.
