Designs, implements, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots enterprise local- and wide-area network services. The role supports highly available distributed and data-centre networks, leads restoration of complex incidents, implements approved changes, improves performance and resilience, and maintains complete technical documentation.

Enterprise production support and on-call

Candidates with deep, recent Cisco routing/switching experience in a large distributed enterprise. Candidates must be ready to walk through practical scenarios covering STP, VLANs, MAC tracing, route/next-hop analysis, traceroute, monitoring alerts, firewall handoffs, SD-WAN, upgrades, SLA ownership, and ITSM documentation.

Required Experience

- 4+ years of hands-on Network Engineering/Operations experience supporting a large, distributed enterprise production environment. Demonstrated responsibility for troubleshooting and resolving production network incidents.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routing/switching, Catalyst and Nexus platforms, and distributed/data-center network infrastructure.
- Experience troubleshooting Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity across campus, WAN, data-center, and distributed enterprise networks.
- Production experience with BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP; robust TCP/IP and subnetting fundamentals.
- Experience managing SLA-driven incidents, requests, and changes through ServiceNow, Remedy, or an equivalent ITSM platform.

Core Technologies

- Cisco IOS and NX-OS; routers; Catalyst and Nexus switches.
- Layer 2 switching, VLANs, access/trunk ports, STP, MAC tables, CDP, and LLDP.
- BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, TCP/IP, subnetting, routing tables, traceroute, and next-hop analysis.
- Enterprise monitoring such as Logic Monitor, PRTG,



SolarWinds, or equivalent; packet and performance analysis.
- Working knowledge of enterprise firewalls; Palo Alto exposure and Cisco SD-WAN experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, implement, maintain, and improve highly available enterprise LAN, WAN, datacentre, campus, and distributed networks.
- Troubleshoot end-to-end connectivity using IP addressing, subnet masks, gateways, routing tables, ping, traceroute, interface status, and error counters.
- Trace endpoints through MAC-address tables and CDP/LLDP neighbours; resolve VLAN, access/trunk, and STP-related issues.
- Monitor alerts, performance, capacity, and availability; identify where traffic stops and implement or coordinate corrective action.
- Perform basic firewall traffic-path analysis and determine when issues require escalation to Firewall Operations.
- Support SD-WAN operations and network upgrades, including compatibility review, backup, rollback planning, implementation, and validation.
- Own SLA-driven incidents, requests, and changes; maintain complete troubleshooting notes, escalation details, and resolution documentation.
- Lead complex restoration and root-cause analysis; maintain diagrams, configurations, standards, runbooks, and knowledge articles.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Structured, hands-on troubleshooting across Layer 2, Layer 3, WAN, firewall handoffs, and distributed traffic paths.
- Ability to identify where traffic stops and validate routes, next hops, interfaces, policies, and device health.
- Broad knowledge of enterprise network hardware, protocols, monitoring, architecture, and operational practices.
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and escalate with complete evidence and business-impact context.
- Ability to manage concurrent SLA-driven incidents, changes, requests, and operational commitments.
