About Nanoflux Technologies

Nanoflux Technologies is an engineering-first electronic product development and prototyping company. We help businesses turn product requirements into working electronic hardware through hardware architecture, circuit design, PCB design, embedded firmware, prototyping, bring-up, and validation.

Our work spans processor-based systems, embedded electronics, industrial applications, and complex electronic products. We work across the development journey, from initial specifications and component selection to functional prototypes and production handoff.

As we expand our hardware engineering capabilities, we are looking for an experienced Lead Hardware Design Engineer who can take ownership of board-level hardware design, guide PCB layout, and help build a strong engineering team.

About the role

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an engineer who has designed and brought processor-based hardware to life, not just worked on isolated parts of the design process.

You will translate customer requirements into hardware architectures and schematics, define constraints for PCB layout, review designs before fabrication, and lead hardware bring-up and debugging in the lab. You will also guide junior engineers and interns, establish good design practices, and contribute to the technical quality of our projects.

Our current and planned work includes platforms such as NXP i.MX, i.MX RT, Qualcomm-based modules, STM32, ESP32, and nRF52, with an increasing focus on multilayer PCBs, high-speed interfaces, memory design, and advanced HDI boards.

We are particularly interested in engineers who understand the complete journey from requirements and schematics through layout, fabrication, assembly, testing, and successful hardware bring-up.

Key responsibilities

Hardware architecture and circuit design

- Translate customer requirements into practical hardware architectures, block diagrams, power trees, and component selections.
- Design and review schematics for processor-based and MCU-based electronic systems.
- Work with processors, microcontrollers, memory devices, PMICs, power-management circuits, sensors, and communication interfaces.
- Design power circuits involving switching regulators, LDOs, power sequencing, battery charging, protection circuits, and power budgeting.
- Evaluate component availability, lifecycle status, sourcing risks, alternative components, and BOM cost.
- Prepare clear design specifications, engineering documentation, and test plans linked to product requirements.
- Identify technical risks early and work with management and other engineers to resolve design challenges.

PCB layout direction and design reviews
- Define PCB layout requirements, including stack-up, impedance targets, differential-pair routing, length matching, placement constraints, keep-outs, and power distribution.
- Work closely with PCB layout engineers to translate schematic requirements into manufacturable, reliable board designs.
- Review schematics, component footprints, placement, routing, design-rule checks, and manufacturing outputs before release.
- Evaluate multilayer PCB designs and help establish design practices for high-density and high-speed boards.
- Collaborate with fabrication and assembly partners on manufacturability, assembly constraints, and design-for-manufacturing considerations.

- Apply signal-integrity, power-integrity, and EMI/EMC design principles to improve product reliability.

Multilayer and HDI PCB development
- Contribute to the development of complex multilayer boards, including designs targeting 10–14 layers and beyond where project requirements demand it.
- Understand the practical implications of controlled impedance, fine-pitch BGA packages, via structures, routing density, and layer transitions.
- Work with qualified fabrication partners to understand HDI stack-ups, microvias, via-in-pad, and fabrication constraints.
- Evaluate the trade-offs between board complexity, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
- Help the team progressively develop the capability to deliver more demanding processor and high-speed hardware designs.
- Hands-on HDI experience is a robust advantage. Candidates with solid multilayer PCB and high-speed design experience who are ready to deepen their HDI expertise are also encouraged to apply.

Hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation
- Lead initial power-up and hardware bring-up after prototype assembly.
- Work alongside firmware engineers to validate interfaces, peripheral operation, boot sequences, and overall board functionality.
- Diagnose hardware issues using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, bench power supplies, logic analysers, and JTAG/SWD debugging tools.
- Investigate power, signal-integrity, connectivity, thermal, and component-level issues systematically.
- Conduct functional and electrical testing, document results, and ensure identified issues are tracked through resolution.
- Support EMI/EMC pre-compliance checks and coordinate with accredited testing laboratories when formal testing is required.
- Work with the team to identify root causes and prevent recurring design errors.

Technical leadership and mentoring

- Guide PCB layout engineers, junior hardware engineers, and interns through design tasks and reviews.
- Establish consistent practices for schematic design, component libraries, footprints, documentation, and design-rule checking.
- Review engineering deliverables and provide clear, constructive technical feedback.
- Help onboard new team members and support technical interviews when required.
- Maintain design checklists, review procedures, version control practices, and engineering documentation.
- Estimate hardware development effort, identify technical dependencies, and contribute to project planning.
- Participate in customer discussions to clarify requirements, explain design decisions, and assess technical feasibility.

Required qualifications and experience

- B.E./B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- M.E./M.Tech or a relevant master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, VLSI, or a related discipline is a plus. A strong practical track record in board-level hardware design remains essential.

- Approximately 8–10 years of relevant experience in board-level hardware design.
- Demonstrated experience taking at least three processor-based or MCU-based boards from schematic design through prototype bring-up, with production experience strongly preferred.
- Practical experience designing schematics for complex electronic systems rather than working exclusively on PCB routing.
- Experience with at least one DDR/LPDDR memory interface or a comparable high-speed interface such as USB 3.x, PCIe, MIPI, or Gigabit Ethernet.
- Experience with multilayer PCB designs, preferably boards with eight or more layers.
- Ability to define PCB layout constraints, review routing, and explain stack-up and impedance requirements.
- Working knowledge of power electronics at board level, including switching regulators, LDOs, power sequencing, and decoupling.
- Experience with schematic capture and hardware design tools such as Altium Designer or Cadence OrCAD/Allegro.
- Familiarity with signal-integrity and power-integrity analysis tools such as HyperLynx, Sigrity, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with prototype bring-up, debugging, and laboratory instrumentation.
- Understanding of DFM, DFA, DFT, PCB fabrication constraints, and assembly considerations.
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC design principles and relevant PCB design standards.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, interns, or other technical team members.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear specifications, design reviews, and test documentation.

Preferred qualifications

- Experience with HDI PCB designs, microvias, via-in-pad, and fine-pitch BGA packages.
- Experience with 10–12-layer or higher-complexity boards, including controlled-impedance and high-speed designs.
- Exposure to wireless, RF, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, analog front ends, or sensor interfaces.
- Experience with products that have undergone CE, FCC, BIS, or other relevant certification processes.
- Familiarity with IPC-2221, IPC-A-610, or related industry standards.
- Experience working in an electronics design-services company, hardware startup, R&D; team, or EMS environment.
- Experience coordinating with PCB fabrication, assembly, and component-sourcing partners.
- What we offer
- The opportunity to take meaningful ownership of electronic hardware development projects.
- Hands-on involvement across architecture, schematic design, PCB layout reviews, prototype development, and validation.
- The opportunity to work on processor-based systems and increasingly complex multilayer PCB designs.
