Role Description The Guidance Counselor is a full time, on-site role based in Kolkata, focused on providing one-on-one and group counseling to students on academic planning, course selection, and career pathways. The counselor will assess student interests, strengths, and goals, and use this information to recommend appropriate educational and career options. Daily responsibilities include conducting counseling sessions, facilitating workshops, maintaining accurate student records, and preparing individualized guidance plans.





The role also involves supporting students in college and university selection by explaining admission requirements, program structures, and campus environments, as well as coordinating with educational institutions when needed. The counselor will collaborate with the broader Student Outreach team to improve counseling resources, contribute to outreach initiatives, and ensure a positive, inclusive experience for all students.

Qualifications

- Counseling skills, including Student Counseling and Career Counseling, with the ability to support diverse student needs and backgrounds.
- Academic and educational knowledge, including familiarity with Education systems, curricula, and admission processes.
- Foundational understanding of Psychology to assess student interests, aptitudes, and emotional well-being.
- Strong communication and active listening skills, with the ability to build trust and explain complex information clearly.
- Organizational and documentation skills for managing student records, counseling plans, and follow-up activities.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Prior experience in educational guidance, student services, or academic advising is preferred.
- Ability to work on-site in Kolkata and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
