Juspay hyperswitch (juspay/hyperswitch) is an open-source payments platform with 45K+ github stars, growing developer and merchant community.
We are hiring someone to own the experience for a developer who finds the repo or docs can get something working quickly, build on it and be able to run it on production. It is an engineering role, and different from a traditional marketing role. You will spend most of your time in code, docs and the community, not in slide decks.
What will you do?
Own and run our GitHub channel: Most developers meet our products through the repo and documentation, not the website. You will own how the projects look and work on GitHub: READMEs, repo structure, releases, changelogs, upgrades, discussions, issue triage and developer guides. You will track stars, forks, community membership and work on moving those numbers.
Build the knowledge base that lets people build with/ without AI: Developers now write code with an AI assistant next to them. You will write guides, cookbooks, reference architectures, sample apps and integration recipes, and make them usable by both people and coding agents. The test is simple: a community user asks their assistant to build something on Hyperswitch, and the code works.
Own developer experience. You will set the projects up from scratch again and again, on different machines and install paths, and a friction log every instant you get stuck (or the LLM had to make a wrong assumption). Then you fix it, or get it fixed. Every command in the docs should run. Every snippet should compile. Every demo should work. You will also build newer demos and playgrounds to demonstrate wider use cases the projects can deliver.
Automate documentation quality and correctness. This is a small team,
so manual review will not scale. You will set up automation that does the checking for you: CI that runs the code samples in the docs, link and API reference checks, docs that are generated from source where possible, scheduled setup tests on clean environments, and AI agents that review docs against the code and flag drift. The goal is to do more with less, and to catch a broken quickstart before a user does.
Go deep on the technology. You cannot write a good guide for a system you do not understand. You will read the codebase, follow a payment through the Hyperswitch router, understand how connectors, routing, vaulting and retries work. You should be able to debug a community user's issue yourself, review a contributor's PR, and explain design trade-offs to a senior engineer evaluating the project.
Grow the community channels. You will grow our presence on GitHub Discussions, Slack, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit and developer forums. You will answer questions, turn repeated questions into docs, recognise contributors, and run office hours, livestreams and hackathons.
Bring the developer's view back to the team. You will pass what you hear in the community to product and engineering, and help shape APIs, SDKs, packaging and the roadmap.
What are we looking for in an ideal candidate?
- You write code regularly and can find your way around a large Rust or TypeScript codebase.
- You have fundamental knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, containers, Kubernetes and cloud deployments.
- You have contributed to or maintained an open-source project, or built a community around one.
- You use AI coding tools daily and have thought about how they change the way developers find and adopt software.
- You have built automation before: CI pipelines, test harnesses, doc tooling or agents.
- You notice broken quickstarts and unclear error messages, and you fix them.
- You write clearly and can explain a technical idea on video or on stage.
- You have a passion for open source work and are self-motivated by the value it delivers to the community.
- You have the ability to learn a complex domain and engineering principles quickly and be able to apply at work.
Note: We are not looking for experience in payments or prior experience in large scale open source projects.
Why join?
Your work is public from the first day and you can measure it in adoption. You will have a direct say in how open-source projects are presented to developers. You will work closely with the engineering and product teams.
