We are looking for an experienced L3 Backup Engineer with solid hands-on expertise in Commvault to manage and support enterprise backup operations across large-scale production and non-production environments.

The ideal candidate should have experience in enterprise backup administration, advanced troubleshooting, backup and recovery operations, disaster recovery, and automation.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and support enterprise backup operations across hundreds of production and non-production servers, including SAP environments.
- Administer, monitor, and optimize Commvault backup infrastructure, ensuring successful backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery operations.
- Perform advanced L3 troubleshooting for backup failures, media issues, storage bottlenecks, and infrastructure-related incidents.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Develop and implement automation using PowerShell, Python, or Shell scripting to resolve recurring backup failures, automate health checks, and streamline reporting.
- Perform capacity planning, including storage utilization forecasting, retention optimization, growth analysis, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements, including backup encryption,



immutable storage, retention policies, and disaster recovery standards.
- Manage backup storage across multiple storage tiers, balancing performance, cost optimization, and compliance requirements.
- Support backup modernization initiatives, including migration of traditional backup workloads to cloud-native SaaS backup solutions.
- Collaborate with SAP, Cloud, Storage, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure backup consistency, application-aware recovery, and adherence to enterprise SLAs.
- Create and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, recovery runbooks, and knowledge base articles.

Mandatory Skills
- 8+ years of relevant experience in Backup and Recovery Operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with Commvault Backup Administration.
- Experience working as an L3 Backup Engineer.
- Expertise in backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery operations.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

Good to Have Skills
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS environments.
- Exposure to SAP production and non-production server backups.
- Scripting knowledge in PowerShell, Python, or Shell.
- Experience in backup automation and capacity planning.
- Knowledge of backup encryption, immutable storage, retention policies, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with cloud backup modernization initiatives.
