We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer who can build, maintain and improve the server-side architecture of our digital products and applications. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience developing scalable backend systems, designing APIs, managing databases and ensuring smooth communication between different application components.
You will work closely with frontend developers, mobile developers, UI/UX designers and other team members to develop reliable solutions that support our business and product requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain backend services, applications and server-side components.
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs to support web and mobile applications.
- Develop efficient database structures, queries and data management systems.
- Work with relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Implement authentication, authorisation and secure data-handling practices.
- Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways and external services.
- Identify and resolve performance issues,
bugs and backend system errors.
- Write clean, reusable, maintainable and well-documented code.
- Collaborate with frontend and mobile development teams to ensure seamless application integration.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging and deployment activities.
- Work with version control systems and deployment environments.
Required Skills and Experience
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in backend development.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Node.js, Python, Java or PHP.
- Experience in developing and integrating REST APIs.
- Good understanding of database management, data modelling and query optimisation.
- Knowledge of authentication methods, API security and server-side architecture.
- Familiarity with Git, Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Understanding of application performance, scalability and debugging.
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
