Principal Engineer – ELV & IBMS (Data Centres)
Location:
Noida, India Build the intelligent infrastructure behind tomorrow's data centres. As data centres continue to scale in capacity, complexity and criticality, the need for intelligent, resilient and seamlessly integrated building management systems has never been greater. We are looking for a Principal Engineer – ELV & IBMS to play a pivotal role in shaping the design and integration of mission-critical infrastructure for hyperscale and colocation data centre projects. This is an opportunity to take technical ownership of complex ELV and Integrated Building Management Systems (IBMS) solutions, influence engineering standards, work closely with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the development of next-generation data centre infrastructure. If you enjoy working at the intersection of engineering, technology, systems integration and technical leadership, this role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact. What you'll be doing As the Principal Engineer, you will act as the technical authority and systems architect for ELV and IBMS design, taking ownership from concept development and system architecture through detailed design, integration and commissioning support. 1. Lead system architecture and integration
• Develop end-to-end ELV and IBMS architectures for hyperscale and colocation data centres across various IT load capacities.
• Define integration strategies covering BMS, EPMS, DCIM, CCTV/VMS, access control, perimeter security, Fire Alarm Systems (FAS), VESDA and PA/VA systems.
• Establish system redundancy, resilience and network architecture aligned with mission-critical uptime requirements and Tier III/IV principles.
• Develop integrated HVAC monitoring and control strategies, electrical power monitoring interfaces and operational workflows. 2. Drive engineering excellence and technical design
• Lead the development of Design Basis Reports (DBRs), system architecture narratives, sequence of operations, I/O schedules and cause-and-effect matrices.
• Define PLC architecture, server redundancy, control philosophy and integration protocols, including BACnet, Modbus, IEC 61850 and OPC UA.
• Coordinate BMS interfaces with electrical, mechanical, fire safety, security and IT infrastructure disciplines.
• Develop control strategies covering HVAC systems, chillers, CDUs, thermal management, emergency shutdowns and load shedding.
• Review and approve ELV/IBMS schematics, network topology drawings, equipment schedules and BIM/Revit models up to LOD 350. 3. Own technical coordination and client engagement
• Lead technical discussions with clients, consultants, contractors and system integrators.
• Drive design reviews, technical evaluations, vendor selection and engineering submittal approvals.
• Define integration testing strategies, review commissioning procedures and validate system interoperability and redundancy.
• Ensure designs align with relevant industry standards, including TIA-942, ISO 27001 requirements for physical security and applicable local fire safety standards. 4. Shape and develop the engineering team
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to ELV engineers, system integrators and network specialists.
• Establish regional engineering guidelines, design standards and best practices for ELV and IBMS systems.
• Drive design quality, integration risk management and resolution of complex engineering challenges.
• Contribute to technical innovation and regional thought leadership initiatives. What makes this chance exciting?
• Technical ownership: Take responsibility for complex, integrated systems architecture rather than focusing solely on equipment specifications.
• Mission-critical projects: Work on hyperscale and colocation data centre infrastructure where resilience, reliability and performance are fundamental.
• Influence engineering standards: Shape design philosophies, integration strategies and technical best practices.
• Multidisciplinary exposure: Collaborate across electrical, mechanical, fire safety, security and IT engineering disciplines.
• Leadership opportunities: Mentor technical teams,
influence stakeholders and contribute to regional engineering capability.
• Career progression: Build
