We're looking for engineers who love figuring out how things work and aren't afraid to get hands-on when things don't. If you enjoy turning a circuit idea into a working prototype, chasing down a noisy signal, or figuring out why a board isn't behaving as expected, you'll fit right in. We're building the electronic systems that power surgical robotics at Articulus Surgical, where reliability, precision, and thoughtful engineering matter. As a Hardware Design Engineer, you'll work across analog and power electronics, PCB design, prototyping, testing, and debugging — taking designs from schematic to prototype and working closely with embedded, mechatronics, mechanical, and firmware teams. What you'll actually be doing
• Designing and optimizing power electronics circuits — AC-DC converters (230VAC to 48V, 24V, 5V), DC-DC converters, Buck, LDO, Buck-Boost, motor drivers, and power management systems — with a focus on efficiency, thermal management, and reliability.
• Designing precision analog circuits using op-amps, MOSFETs, BJTs, diodes, filters, and voltage regulators, with an emphasis on minimizing noise.
• Owning the complete PCB design process — component selection, schematic capture, footprint creation, PCB layout, Gerber generation, and production handoff.
• Working with tools like KiCad, Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD, or Cadence Allegro (or similar schematic capture/PCB layout tools).
• Building and testing prototypes, supporting PCB bring-up, SMT implementation, and design iterations.
• Debugging hardware systematically using oscilloscopes, multimeters, regulated power supplies, signal generators, and logic analyzers.
• Implementing circuit protection strategies for ESD, reverse polarity, EMI, and EMC.
• Working with sensors, transducers, motors, and actuators, and integrating communication protocols like EtherCAT, CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, USB, LAN, RFID, BLE,
and WiFi.
• Maintaining schematics, BOMs, PCB files, test reports, and other engineering documentation.
• Collaborating closely with mechanical, mechatronics, and firmware teams to integrate hardware into larger robotic subsystems.
• Staying current with advances in analog and power electronics, and contributing to R&D; initiatives. Who we're looking for
• You've got 2-4 years of experience in analog systems, digital signal, or mixed-signal design and development — experience in medical devices or robotics is a solid plus.
• You have a BTech/MTech in Electronics, Electrical, ECE, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• You can design and debug analog and power electronics circuits end-to-end — from component selection through schematic and PCB design.
• You're comfortable interfacing with analog components like amplifiers, filters, and signal conditioning circuits.
• You understand fundamental analog concepts — voltage/current measurement, impedance matching, and noise analysis.
• You're familiar with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as KiCad, Altium, Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, or similar.
• You're hands-on with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, logic analyzers, and other bench equipment.
• You're comfortable reading and interpreting analog schematics and datasheets.
• You're curious, hands-on, and the kind of person who wants to understand why something failed rather than simply work around it. What you get
• Real ownership and hands-on exposure across the complete hardware development cycle.
• The opportunity to work across analog, power, embedded, mechanical, and systems domains.
• A front-row seat to building reliable electronics for surgical robotics.
• A team that values curiosity, experimentation, and engineers who want to build, break, debug, and build better.
