About the Role
Workshore is looking for an experienced Shopify Developer / Integration Engineer to work on technically complex e-commerce projects involving Shopify development, custom applications, APIs, and third-party system integrations. This is not primarily a Shopify theme-development role. We need someone comfortable working beyond the storefront, with hands-on experience building Shopify apps, API integrations, web services, and custom e-commerce functionality. You'll work with our technical team on projects where Shopify needs to communicate with existing applications, databases, business systems, and external services. What You'll Work OnYour responsibilities will include:
• Develop custom Shopify applications and integrations
• Build and maintain integrations between Shopify and external platforms
• Work extensively with Shopify Admin APIs and GraphQL
• Design and consume REST and GraphQL APIs
• Develop secure web APIs and backend services
• Implement Shopify webhooks and event-driven workflows
• Build custom functionality that cannot be handled effectively through existing Shopify apps
• Work with authentication, authorization, and Shopify OAuth flows
• Handle synchronization of products, customers, orders, inventory, and other business data
• Integrate Shopify with existing applications and databases
• Design reliable data flows between Shopify and third-party systems
• Implement error handling, retries, logging, and monitoring for integrations
• Debug API, webhook, application, and data synchronization issues
• Understand Shopify API rate limits and design integrations accordingly
• Work with Shopify metafields, metaobjects and custom data structures
• Support Shopify checkout and customer-account customizations where applicable
• Collaborate with frontend developers when custom storefront functionality is required
• Review existing architecture and recommend appropriate technical approaches
• Document APIs, integrations, data flows, and important architectural decisions. Core Technical RequirementsWe're specifically looking for strong hands-on experience in: Shopify Development
• Shopify app development

• Shopify Admin GraphQL API
• Shopify webhooks

• JavaScript
• HTML/CSS
• Theme architecture
• Sections and blocks
• Storefront APIs You don't necessarily need to be our primary UI developer, but you should understand how the storefront, Shopify backend, and custom applications work together. The Kind of Problems You'll SolveA typical requirement may involve: Shopify ↔ Existing Business Application ↔ External APIs For example: An order is created in Shopify. The order needs to be sent to an external application through an API. Customer and product information needs to be mapped between two different data structures.

The external application processes the request and sends updated information back. Shopify then needs to reflect the updated status or data. Failures need to be logged and retried without creating duplicate transactions. We're looking for someone who can think through the entire integration architecture, not simply make an API request work. What We're Looking ForYou should be able to:
• Understand a business requirement and translate it into a technical solution
• Design integrations before starting development
• Determine when to use Shopify native capabilities, an existing app or custom development
• Read and understand third-party API documentation
• Work with unfamiliar APIs and existing systems
• Debug complex integration and data-flow problems
• Think about scalability, security and maintainability
• Identify edge cases before they become production issues
• Communicate technical decisions clearly to the project team
• Estimate development effort realistically
• Take ownership of your work from development through deployment Strong AdvantagesExperience with any of the following would be particularly valuable:
• Shopify Plus
• Shopify Functions
• Checkout UI Extensions
• Customer Account Extensions
• Shopify Flow
• Custom Shopify apps
• Node.js / TypeScript
• React / Next.js
• C# / ASP.
NET
• SQL / NoSQL databases
• AWS or other cloud infrastructure
• ERP, CRM, PIM or inventory integrations
• High-volume product/order synchronization
• Legacy system integrations
• E-commerce migration projects What You'll GetYou'll work on Shopify projects where the challenge goes beyond theme configuration and app installation. You'll get exposure to:
• Complex international e-commerce projects
• Custom Shopify application development
• API-driven integrations
• Existing enterprise and legacy systems
• Architecture and technical problem-solving
• Modern AI-assisted development workflows
• Direct collaboration with Workshore's technical and project teams For the right person, this role offers the opportunity to take greater ownership of Shopify engineering and e-commerce integrations at Workshore as we expand this capability.
