Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Backup & Storage Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team and take ownership of enterprise storage, Kubernetes-native storage, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery operations. This is a hands-on engineering role involving private cloud infrastructure running on enterprise hardware. The engineer will be responsible for managing the complete storage lifecycle, from enterprise storage arrays and software-defined storage platforms to Kubernetes persistent volumes. The ideal candidate should have strong production experience with Kubernetes storage, Rook, Ceph, enterprise storage platforms, and proven backup and restore capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
• Kubernetes-Native Storage: Manage Rook, Ceph, CSI drivers, StorageClasses, Persistent Volumes (PV), and Persistent Volume Claims (PVC).
• Backup & Recovery: Own backup strategies, retention policies, restore validation, and recovery verification with documented evidence.
• Enterprise Storage: Administer Pure Storage and NetApp platforms, including provisioning, snapshots, replication, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
• Disaster Recovery: Design and execute DR exercises, validate RPO/RTO objectives, and resolve issues identified during recovery testing.
• Infrastructure Operations: Manage storage across VMware virtualized environments and private cloud infrastructure.
• Performance Management: Troubleshoot storage, host, and network performance issues across the infrastructure stack.
• Monitoring & Automation: Implement monitoring, alerting, reporting, and automation for provisioning and backup verification.
• Documentation: Establish operational standards, technical documentation,



and storage capacity roadmaps. Required Skills & Experience
• 8–13 years of experience in enterprise storage, backup, and data protection.
• Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes storage, particularly Rook and Ceph or equivalent CSI-based platforms.
• Robust understanding of Kubernetes PV, PVC, StorageClasses, and CSI architecture.
• Proven experience personally performing backup restoration and recovery validation.
• Experience with Commvault or equivalent enterprise backup solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Pure Storage and NetApp, including snapshots and replication technologies such as SnapMirror.
• Strong understanding of storage protocols:
• iSCSI
• NVMe over Fabrics (NVMe-oF)
• Fibre Channel (FC)
• NFS
• SMB
• Experience designing and executing Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises.
• Backup and storage management for VMware environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across storage, host, and network layers.
• Scripting and automation experience for provisioning, reporting, and restore verification.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Key Expectations
• Take end-to-end ownership of enterprise and Kubernetes storage operations.
• Establish and maintain verifiable backup and restore processes.
• Conduct full disaster recovery exercises and validate recovery objectives.
• Improve infrastructure reliability, monitoring, and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with Platform Engineering, Database, Security, and OEM teams.
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation for major infrastructure incidents. Note: This is an ownership-driven engineering position, not a routine storage console administration role. Candidates must have practical production experience in storage engineering, Kubernetes-native storage, and actual backup restoration.
