This individual will head the strategic sourcing function for a business unit. They will be responsible for driving global sourcing strategies, optimizing cost structure, and aligning the supply base with business goals.

Key Responsibilities
· Lead strategic sourcing, global supplier development, and commodity management to build a competitive supplier base and ensure cost-effective, reliable supply. Strengthen supplier performance, support new product development, and align sourcing activities with business objectives, quality standards, and production requirements.
· Develop and implement sourcing and commodity strategies, including supplier identification, selection, qualification, performance and compliance, and optimization of the domestic and international supplier base, including, but not limited to, India, Vietnam, Turkey, and China
· Manage assigned commodities, lead supplier negotiations, and finalize contracts within approved budgets and delegated authority to secure competitive pricing, favorable payment terms, and other commercial conditions.
· Monitor global market trends, commodity prices, and manufacturing cost drivers. Conduct supplier benchmarking and implement cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or delivery performance.
· Commodity Pricing Expertise: Maintain Solid background in pricing trends, market benchmarks, and cost drivers for aluminum, copper, stainless steel, and other industrial materials.
· Manufacturing and Costing Knowledge: Apply knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes, machine-hour rates, labour rates, and material costs to evaluate supplier quotations and identify cost-improvement opportunities.




· Manage strategic supplier partnerships and require and lead regular performance reviews covering cost, quality, delivery, capacity, and compliance. Communicate business requirements, provide feedback, and coordinate improvement actions.
· Partner with Engineering, Sales, and Quality to support New Product Introduction (NPI), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), technical evaluations, and supplier sourcing decisions.
· Assess supplier capabilities and capacity, forecast sourcing requirements, and align supplier commitments with production schedules to maintain supply continuity. Maintain alternate-source and contingency plans for critical parts.
· Represent sourcing in customer-facing reviews, address sourcing-related concerns, and coordinate the timely resolution of supplier and commercial escalations.
· Drive the adoption of digital sourcing tools, dashboards, and analytics to improve visibility, decision-making, procurement efficiency, and overall supply chain performance.
· Manage and maintain sourcing and supplier performance metrics and reports, ensuring data is accurate and current. Prepare and present regular reports to the executive team on performance against agreed targets, key trends, risks, and improvement actions to support business decisions. Qualifications &

Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Sourcing, Commodity Management or related field.
• 15+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement of mechanical commodities.
• Proven track record in strategic negotiations and supplier partnerships.
• Deep commercial and technical knowledge of global sourcing markets.
• Experience managing cross-functional sourcing teams.
• Strong financial acumen and executive communication skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Proficient in ISO standards and quality management systems.
• Willing and able to travel frequently for domestic and international supplier visits.
