Position: VP - IT (For an AI Product Company)

Role: Principal Software Architect

Location: Kolkata/ Bangalore

Role Overview:

The role involves leading the overall software architecture, engineering standards and technology direction of the company's AI products. The individual will be responsible for building scalable, secure and high-performance platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and lead scalable microservices and distributed systems architecture.
- Own database architecture, including PostgreSQL, Citus sharding, Redis and vector storage.
- Build and optimise real-time voice and communication platforms using WebSockets, gRPC and WebRTC.
- Establish AI-native engineering practices using tools such as Claude Code and Cursor, ensuring quality and architectural discipline.
- Implement security, compliance and reliability standards, including PCI-DSS and HIPAA requirements.
- Drive cloud infrastructure, deployment automation and scalability using Kubernetes and Terraform.
- Establish engineering standards, API contracts, code review processes and system observability.
- Lead technical audits,



identify performance bottlenecks and drive platform improvements.

Key Skills & Experience Required:

- 12-20 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience leading software architecture and enterprise platform development.
- Robust hands-on expertise in Python and FastAPI.
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL (Citus sharding), Redis and microservices architecture.
- Practical knowledge of Go or Rust for performance-critical modules.
- Experience designing distributed systems, event-driven architectures and high-concurrency applications.
- Hands-on experience with real-time voice/communication platforms and technologies such as WebSockets, gRPC and WebRTC.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform and cloud/on-premise infrastructure.
- Exposure to regulated industries such as BFSI, Healthcare or CCaaS.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.
