Role Overview

We are looking for a Vendor Development (VD) professional Casting with a robust inclination and hands-on understanding of HPDC (High Pressure Die Casting) to support supplier development and component industrialization for Oben Electric's EV products. The role will focus on developing and strengthening the supplier base for aluminium casting components, ensuring suppliers meet the required standards for quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and new product development.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for casting and aluminium die-cast components.
- Work closely with suppliers having capabilities in HPDC, aluminium die casting, machining, and related processes.
- Conduct supplier capability assessments covering manufacturing processes, capacity, quality systems, tooling, and scalability.
- Support the development and industrialization of casting components from prototype to mass production.
- Coordinate with R&D;, Design, Quality, Manufacturing, and Sourcing teams for supplier and process development.
- Drive supplier readiness for NPD and new model launches.
- Work with suppliers on APQP, PPAP, process validation, trial production, and SOP readiness.
- Monitor supplier performance on quality, delivery, capacity, productivity, and development timelines.
- Support supplier localization and development of alternate sources.
- Drive improvements related to cost, quality, productivity, and manufacturability.




- Work with suppliers on casting-related issues, including porosity, dimensional concerns, surface defects, machining issues, and process capability.
- Support development and optimization of dies, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.
- Participate in supplier audits and ensure closure of technical and process-related gaps.
- Coordinate closely with Strategic Sourcing and Procurement teams during supplier nomination and commercial discussions.

Candidate Profile Experience: 12+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Industry:

- Automotive OEM
- EV OEM
- Two-wheeler OEM
- Automotive Tier-1 companies with strong casting exposure

Mandatory / Preferred Skills

- Experience in Vendor Development / Supplier Development / Supplier Quality / Manufacturing Engineering.
- Strong exposure to casting components, preferably aluminium castings.
- Good understanding of HPDC (High Pressure Die Casting) processes.
- Knowledge of the complete HPDC process, from die/tooling development to casting and machining.
- Experience in supplier capability assessment and supplier development.
- Exposure to NPD, prototype development, PPAP, and production readiness.
- Understanding of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, and process capability.
- Knowledge of die/tooling trials, tool correction, and process optimization.
- Experience in resolving casting-related manufacturing and quality issues.
- Understanding of cost drivers in casting and tooling would be an advantage.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing or EV components is highly preferred.
