Core Duties of an EXIM Officer (Export-Import Officer)

1) Documentation & Compliance

Main responsibility: Preparing and verifying all export/import documents.
Prepare export/import documentation (Invoice, Packing List, Shipping Bill, Bill of Lading, etc.)
Ensure compliance with government regulations and customs rules
Maintain records of shipments and documentation
Coordinate with CHA (Custom House Agent) and shipping lines
Handle DGFT, customs, and port documentation

Common Documents Handled:
Commercial Invoice
Packing List
Bill of Lading / Airway Bill
Certificate of Origin
Shipping Bill / Bill of Entry

2) Coordination with Logistics & Shipping

Main responsibility: Managing shipment movement smoothly.
Coordinate with freight forwarders, transporters, and shipping companies
Arrange dispatch and delivery schedules
Track shipments and update internal teams or customers
Resolve delays, shortages, or shipment issues
Monitor container loading/unloading

3) Customs Clearance & Regulatory Work

Main responsibility:



Ensuring legal clearance of goods.
Work with customs authorities for clearance
Ensure duty payment and compliance with import/export policies
Handle inspection and clearance procedures
Stay updated with customs rules and trade regulations

4) Vendor & Client Communication

Main responsibility: Managing communication with stakeholders.
Communicate with overseas clients and suppliers
Negotiate shipment terms and delivery timelines
Provide shipment status updates
Handle queries related to export/import orders

5) Record Keeping & Reporting

Main responsibility: Maintaining accurate operational data.
Maintain shipment and inventory records
Prepare export/import reports for management
Track costs, duties, and logistics expenses
Maintain MIS and compliance records

Job Types: Full time, Permanent
